Hey guys, I'm going to be doing a complete rebuild of my IROC this summer (engine, body, interior and paint..the works) and I was wondering if any of you have bought the cheaper sound deadener that Classic Industries carries?

I was looking to get some opinions on this product. Just to see if it is any good, what the thickness is, who the bloody manufacturer of this stuff is. Its just a generic off brand, but I figured an off brand wouldnt matter so much with this. Some things you dont want an off brand, but others it doesnt matter...(like cheap cereal, it tastes the same haha.) My plan was to buy 2-3 sheets of this and cover nearly EVERYTHING in my interior with it and then throw some Neoprene foam sheets under the seats, foot area and probably the rear wheel wells. I'm on quite the budget and can't afford Dynamat or others like it, this seems to be the only stuff i've found that I can work with on the price.

I've done some reading here, and apparently it takes over 100 square feet to cover the floor, rear hatch area and doors?!? I pulled out a measuring tape just to see how much that really was and HOLY CRAP! unless i did my measuring wrong (i just mocked up a rectangle that is 25 feet long and 4 feet wide) but that looks like WAAAYYYY more then is needed to do the interior...am i right? how much would i actually need just for the floor, doors and hatch area, including inner wheel wells?

I used rattletrap from this eBay seller. It shipped quickly and was exactly as described. I did the everything but the roof (I have t-tops) and used every last inch of the 100 feet.

Warning: installation SUCKS! I spent about 18 hours trimming and installing. Sure, some would say "it's hidden anyway" but since I was doing a full interior restoration, I needed to keep up the **** mentality!

It's going to take you 32 square feet, just to do the doors, covering both skins, plus about 16 for the roof, so there's about 50 without touching the floor!

This thread just made me realize that I will need to buy a lot more Dynamat Xtreme to do my entire interior. I've already purchased one case of 36 ft, but that won't be nearly enough. Looks like I'll have about $500 to $600 wrapped-up in this stuff when all is said and done.

But if you put padding and carpet on the floor, how will you ever sort out the sources of all the water leaks?

I suprisingly dont have any leaks in my interior. My T-tops and doors dont leak at all. But I'm using neoprene foam as a replacement for that crappy stock insulation they have under the carpet, so if i ever do spring a leak somewhere...i can't imagine it will be hard to track it down. Good point though none the less.

I didnt notice this was jute padding, not anything like dynamat and similar projects. definately not going to buy it.
