Will I still need the ecm if i use aftermarket gauges for my 4th gen dash swap?
I'm planning on getting aftermarket gauges, and seeing as how my car has mechanical gauges (right? its an 89 so it should, am I right?) i don't want to go through the trouble of changing to electronic. If i do that could i just wire all the controls my car into the dash (e.g. AC, lights, etc) without the ecm?
Also, ive been looking for a thread I found way back that listed all the parts im gonna need to pull from the 4th gen, can someone link it to me? I cant find it. Thanks.

i just got an 02 cammy dash, mines an 86 i have no computer in my car but i want to get the cluster working if i could, i know ill need the signal generator like listed below, but i figure ill need an ecm, i did not get it as was gone with motor.
i suppose my questions are, 1 which ecm will work? like anything with vss and up?(91-92?) and i dont plan on using the computer for anything but the speedo and im not a car computer guy so will it work correctly?

with my dash i made sure to grab the main dash of course, but theres a brace you wanna make sure you grab and not leave it behind, save pigtails, the a pillar pods, the lower dash pieces, fuse pannel cover, kick pannels, dash pad, hood release if you want it to work, and recommend console while your at it.
door pannels im iffy on, i see one post where the guy looks like he did it successfully, but i hear that for the most part they dont work, so if you think you can do it and get for a decent price id go at it imo

let me know how you make out, and i never have yards close enough for me to just go look, hopefully you find what you need, and grab the style you want, id recommend, 93-02 firebird or 97-02 cammy, let me know how you make out
ill probably go the sam way you are about it with mechanical gauges, but im not going to be using a computer till i get a 6l or ls1, should keep in touch and help each other out
