power locks not working
I have a 1985 trans am and the power locks are not working. I have new actuators and they are working good. It seems to me there is to much play in the linkage where the oval shaped unit connects to the locking rod. The actuators are moving great but the rod is moving little to none at all. I don't know what this would be in I have greased all the linkage and everything. Like I said I think it is in that oval shaped unit what ever its called. But is the suppose to be any spring or anything in that unit maybe a retaining clip?;

Re: power locks not working
I had a problem with the passenger side not locking. It was the rod/actuator sticking a bit. To the far right side on my pic. I took a lubed up long q-tip thingie to the connecting points which freed it up nice.

Re: power locks not working
The problem is caused by excessive friction on the rod that runs horizontal and slop in the plastic linkages that connect the rods. Early F-bodies had a expanded plastic mesh that the horizontal rod runs thru behind the inner door panel. They changed that to a plastic clip that pops into the door. The rod snaps into it. You can solve the slop in the plastic linkages by wrapping it with a zip-tie at a 45 degree angle.
