Turn signal stalk won't click on brights
Hi folks, just traded my El Camino for a 90 Camaro and I'm set to fix some things. I have searched this problem and found a possible solution but I don't believe that to be the case on mine.
My column is missing the trim piece behind the turn signal and the stalk just flops around. I believe I should be able to see the rod that it pushes for the brights but I cannot. Can anyone confirm what I am missing if anything?
Edit to add: I also noticed I am missing the hazard switch. I don't even see the part it would screw into.

Oh man, you're gonna have fun with this. Check fleabay and see if you can find the trim piece that fits in behind the turn signal. You will also have to visit your local junkyard and pull apart the steering column on that car for a small plastic piece that fits behind the signal stalk. If you couldn't find the trim piece online get it while you're here too. The whole concept behind this is that the plastic piece that fits in behind the stalk is grooved on one end (to accommodate the stalk) and has a "hook" on the other end that fits into a catch on the trim piece that fits in the steering column. When you hit the stalk for high beams, it pushes against that piece of plastic which if installed correctly provides physical resistance against the stalk, in turn "switching" the high beams on.
I pulled apart my steering column about a month ago to change my ignition cylinder and had this piece fall out, i thought it was just some broken crap until I got everything back together and I had no high beams

This column has some other problems too like they signals not canceling, the hazards are missing and the lower bowl is busted (can be seen in the pics). I found another column that is earlier and I plan on just bypassing vats and swapping it out. I've found quite a few things that are flakey on this car.

Drop the column and see if the rod isnt there, it very well could be there and the headlight switch just isnt adjusted correctly, it will cause the same condition, iirc its an 8mm headed pair of bolts to adjust it.
