Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
How difficult is it to put these in a 92 bezel? Will putting rubber bands on them like someone else said hold them in for good?

Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
even on the 84 bezel the gauge rings with rubber bands stick out a bit and aren't flush. I used rubber bands to see how they looked before permanently putting them in.

Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
How did you end up putting them in then? I saw epoxy and hot glue. Even saw weather strip adhesive I think. Just trying to figure the best way and how hard it is because I really want some rings.

Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
i used JB Weld plastic epoxy, the syringe kind. and soo far, its holding up. I would recommend that you weigh down the rings so that they go all the way in

Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
Just an update for those of you who are interested in ordering a set of rings.
Called the machine shop twice this week and have not heard back from them, even though I left messages for the dude to call me back. Guess they're too busy with other projects which I totally understand.
Will call them again next week and post another update.

Thanks Motobooks, The rings installed with no issues and add a very nice touch to the instrument cluster.

Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
Just installed my set the other day and I couldn't be happier with them! They're a subtle addition but they do so much for my gauges. So glad I was able to snag a set.
Thanks again Luis!

I missed my chance for the bird rings. Have been busy. When do you think you'd have more IF you're doing more?

Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
Hey Luis,
I hope the second set arrives within about a week or two from now.
I'll keep you posted
To the others:
Has anyone of you had to do what I did to get the rings in straight?
I tried to heat up the dash bezel but somehow I can't get it to flatten properly, so I got some flexible glue with gap filling properties and used a vise to get the rings properly glued on.
Still waiting for the second ring's glue to dry right now.

I'm having the same problems installing mine (different manufacturer). Everyone talks about what an easy/simple install these things are.
B.S.! They don't go in straight, they cant to one side. They pop out. The only thing I can figure is to use some permenant epoxy and clamp each one in place with at least 3 clamps while they dry. That may sound simple for the average DIYer, but I'm a spaz when it comes to this stuff. I want something REVERSIBLE in case I mess 'em up!
Did you ever get them to work?
Bill

Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
I got my rings last week and finally got around to installing them. I used some double sided piping tape. I did find, that assuming the rings are true round, that my gauge openings may not be "true round". We'll see how well this tape holds them in. Here are some pictures. They look sweet!

Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
Just now getting around to installing mine.
I have the same dash panel as the pic's around entry # 224, and after.
The immediate issue I noticed is that the inst-panel cover is slightly
convex, while the rings are machined exactly flat. If you secure them
(by any of the means suggested) you will have either the upper, or lower
portion of the bezel sitting flush against the i-p cover. Pick your poison.
I never intend to take them out, or sell the car to anyone else that
might want to. So I'm going to experiment with a slight bevel (Dremel
tools are awesome things...) at the pivot point. Haven't decided on
a glue, like something silicone based, or just cement them in w/ epoxy.
At any rate, I think the overall effect is simply awesome.

Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
Luis left the forum some time ago. He had these made. I wrote to him when I first joined here, and he did not have any more of these. They come up for sale here and on ebay now and then (Luis actually had his set for sale on ebay within the last year). I bought mine from a member here.
If H-TownMinion has a set for sale, and you really want some, I would jump on it.
Just be aware that on the later dash trims, they did not fit 100% flush, because the trim is not 100% flat. Here are mine, just pressed into place as a test fit, with the gap split about 30/70, top and bottom. So the photo from the bottom shows the largest gap. Installed, you will not see it from this angle, and it's not really noticeable.
There are a few more photos of them in the thread in my signature.

Thanks you sir. I'm pretty happy with them. They dress up a fairly bland piece of grey plastic rather nicely, in my opinion.

Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
These are all custom one off pieces. Unless someone stashed a set or is willing to sell theirs you would have to get them fabricated.
