Re: NHRA/IHRA BATTERY BOX FOR THE 82/92 camaros under $70 yes they Exist!
getting a few guys looking so ill bring this post back up..
the box is the best Bank for the Buck Guys!
i have had 3 other battery boxs made with top names on them..this guys battery box is 100 times better!
My batter box size
you can use wood 1" x 1" strips to set the battery box on..i glued the wood strips to the floor
(walmart..shoe goo) till i got the size i needed. then did them out of alum sqr tubing
this makes the floor levl.
the battry box bolts will run from top to bottom coming out, under the trunk.
you can open one of the factry holes in the trunk floor. to run the vent tube out of. look close you will see two.. 1/4" holes
box bottom 7.1/2"inch wide..12" long
top is 8. 1/4" wide 12" long
box is 11" tall
this box fits the Optima batteries
hold down rods will be 15"inch long (let him know)
you can run the hold downs
end to end (fits best) see the pics in my post.
i also coverd the hold down with rubber hose...to keep pos and neg from playing with ea other.if i boo boo the car.. inside the box i use self stickey rubber sheet to keep the side turmls from also playing with the alum box.. just in case.. none of the other alum battery box makers think of this!..anyway
when clamped down it's rock solid.myself i install the Jump turmls nexed to the rear Plate on the car..so ill never have to open this thing...but if i have to..the wing nuts make it easy..
he will make any box you need..his work is Fantastic.

I realize this is an old thread but hopefully i can revive it. Im stuck with the same high priced, wrong sized problem with finding a battery box. The link that was given no longer works. Was wondering if those boxes are still available at all. cant seem to find anything.

sorry, old thread.. but its because i searched instead of making a new thread
just bought a taylor box today 48200 and was hoping it would fit. its about 1/2" toowide to fit in the spare tire well. any suggestions? can I cut/bend the piece of stamped steel that is in there...it doesnt appear to be anything more than where hte spare tire/jack was mounted too. but somehow its structural. i DEFINITELY want my battery hidden under the trunk plastic and not in the trunk floor well. ideas thoughts?
would like the box to be saled for NHRA rule 8:1 too

I installed the Taylor box in December
- I turned it to face this way (instead of sideways) so my 1 gauge battery cables could come into the box at a nice easy direction, and didn't have tight angles/bends to contend with
here is a link to the photo album of the whole project:
