HELP - Seat tilt is broken
I've got an 89 GTA with the OEM seats, black cloth with the power lumbar. Well anyways, I was accelerating from a stop yesterday and I felt myself literally tilt into my back seat. The lever directly underneath the seat that controls the tilt mechanism appears to be broken, but only on the left hand side of the seat. Meaning that the entire seat rocks forward and backwards, but mostly only on the left side. Anyone here a seat expert that can give me some idea how to fix this? It has made my favorite car extremly uncomforatble to drive

Re: HELP - Seat tilt is broken
I'm not sure about this "... left side", but here's what I can add to the issue.
Third gen seats are constructed with the latch/tilt mechanism, on the
outside, i.e toward the door (driver seat -> left side, pass ->
right side). The inside mounting is a simple pivot bolt, so all control
is in the latch/tilt mechanism.
The pic is (I believe) a pass latch, with the cutaway intended to illustrate
the tilt-lock feature, which was the subject of another thread.
Long story short is that you probably need another driver-side latch.
If you don't have any good salvage lots close, try posting a WTB in
the classifieds.
OR...
Is your driver side seat mount like the second pic?
If that's the issue, I may be able to help, if you can get some good pics
of your's.
Good luck,
kk

Re: HELP - Seat tilt is broken
I understand what you're talking about but I might've worded it incorrectly. The problem with my seat is Not the tilt for your back, but the lever directly under your seat which adjusts the angle towards the wheel your seat is at. By "left side" I meant the part you literally sit your butt on, near the front left, seems to be unlatched and tilts.

Re: HELP - Seat tilt is broken
I'll have to give it a shot. Just hope it's not a big deal to pull the seat. Does it just take a normal size ratchet or is it a special type of bolt?

Re: HELP - Seat tilt is broken
Wonder what type of treasures I'll find under a 22 year old seat :O
Hopefully this is an easy fix.
