The first one is the '91-'94 wheel, and the second one is the '89-'90 wheel. I like the second one better, a friend of mine used to have a '89 Z24.

I like stock. That's it. Not aftermarket, not other models. stock. Everything else looks like it doesn't belong.

Re: did i discover the cheapest and best steering wheel mod ever?

I was digging through my parents old 91 cavalier just an hour ago, it's been sitting for years and I decided to take some parts for my 91 RS before the thing gets scraped. I was thinking about taking the steering wheel, they look nice but I agree with Abubaca, stock is the way to go.

I agree, I prefer to keep it stock. I do like design of the wheel itself though, it was a nice change from the thin scrawny wheels of the early 80's.

I like the look. I had an 85 with a caviler steering wheel, I wish I would have kept it when I got rid of the car it would look great in the 88 I just got.

Stock is great if you have an IROC wheel, but with hte 91-92 godawful looking airbag wheel... I would love to ditch it.

Unfortunately I dont think this Cavalier wheel has an airbag so you still run into the same legal/insurance issues.

Maybe with a cavalier wheel they wouldnt notice?

I own a '92 cavalier as my daily driver.I never thought of using the wheel in my camaro. It's a camaro. My cavalier seems like a lesser being compared to it.I wouldn't hurt my cams feelings like that.No offense.

Re: did i discover the cheapest and best steering wheel mod ever?

I have an '85 IROC-Z28. The stock steering wheel was the most aweful looking thing I have ever seen in a car; ever. I couldn't get it removed quickly enough.

My car now has a low end Grant steering wheel and it has never been happier. Neither have I. Looks better, drives better -- yes, drives better. The smaller wheel gives a more sporty road feel than the original.

Hey affliction: I think that wheel looks awesome!!! Had I thought of that, I would have gone looking for one of those instead of the grant one I bought.

Thanks for the post and the great idea.

Ed

Re: did i discover the cheapest and best steering wheel mod ever?

Aesthetically, it seems like a big downgrade compared to a stock Z28 wheel in my opinion, but certainly an upgrade from a base model camaro wheel.
