My new ash tray switch panel

Hey guys. I have made these a few times in the past, first from a plastic sheet, then from aluminum. Well I decided to re-do it again this time with all the bells and whistles. Here is what I have.

I will be using 3 digit 7 segment displays to show water and oil temp. The display button will turn on the temperature displays and the two fan buttons of course turn on the fans.

It is all computer milled. The lettering is engraved then filled with paint.

Not yet. It will probably be a few weeks as I need to sort out the seven segment displays.

Here is my current setup installed. I will be using similar switches for this new panel.

Yeah the switches are neat. My new switches will be the same except in blue I think to match my 7 segments displays and my head unit. Switches can be found here:

Re: My new ash tray switch panel

Instead of buying computer switches, I bought these Oracle flush LED switches.
Oracle makes some amazing stuff.

Those are the same style as mine. The style is called Vandal Proof. I like black switches, so those are no go for me.

Mine is really specific for my car, so the wiring will be totally different for anyone elses car. I could make them in any configuration you want though.

Re: My new ash tray switch panel

How does the switch wiring go? Is it complicated with the LED ring being on, then brighter? Or no?

Re: My new ash tray switch panel

No I still don't have it installed. Car is down for the winter so I hope to get them complete soon. Only thing I am waiting for is my computer buddy to finish modifying the circuit boards on the Dakota controllers.

Wiring is not challenging on the switches. Just have to have a basic understanding of electricity.

Hi, was looking thru some threads and found this one. Was wondering how the ashtray project went. Also, saw your shifter *** and wanted to show you one I picked up from Speed Dawg in Maryland. I think the one in the pic is using the 4th gen font, I had it exchanged for 3rd gen font and it looks cool. Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend.. be safe Stone
