Front seat belts. will 4th gen fit?
Looking to change the colour of my seat belts and trim, at least in the front. I've changed to an ebony leather 4th gen seat from tan cloth so I would like to match the belts. Just wondering if the 4th gen stuff will work? If it will then I can get it cheap at the junk yard, otherwise it's a hunt for good 3rd gen stuff.
Thanks
Thanks

ok.. so it all bolts up, no biggie on the headliner area so I read.. How about the sill trim? I have tan '89 panels and don't want to cut them / damage them. Anyone come up with something that looks good?

I've read that early Thirdgen sills (82-83) work good for this, but I don't if it was made in tan.
I noticed a set for sale on here, but they were charcoal painted black IIRC.

Top of 4th page in this thread is the solution to the sill plate. 83-83 plates. Very hard to find intact.
I've found 2 sets in 3 years now.

Yes they are made in tan. Sold a set here awhile back.

Thank you alloy.
Thirim, here's the ad, but the sills are black:

I second alloy, I have seen tan sets. one at the local yard, not cracked or broken but sunrotted to hell. also it was 82 only, 83's came with the lower retractor.

Well I got in a big argument with another "know it all" member here that 83's had the same sill as the 82's do. He was so adamant about it I took his word for it that's 83's were the same. Mine were off an 82 I found, the tan set I sold you couldn't tell what year the car was.

i would wonder if similar sill plates can be found in other GM vehicles, I seem to remember my dad's old caprice had similar sill plates, maybe we can adapt them?

If you dont feel like going on a witch hunt for 82 sill plates...this solution is simple, cheap, and looks fantastic. Cant believe more folks arent doing it.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/inte...gen-front.html
The only thing I did differently from the guy that came up with the idea is that I backed those pieces with some thin aluminum. I epoxied the alum to the back for the pieces before I cut the opening for the belt. I did this after reports of the opening breaking on some folks. So I wanted to reinforce it some.
I havent glued my covers down to my sills yet. Probably next spring when the next round of mods comes through.
But you can get a set of sills for cheap. Cut em up... And if you know someone else doing the 4th gen belt mod, you can split the cost and cut a few pieces out of one set of sills.
Just another option.
