Re: 4th gen dash swap

how is it working if it doesnt have power?
you signals should work on the car, but its gonna need power to make the arrows blink.

All of your interior's dash light wires are light grey. That includes switches.

Re: 4th gen dash swap

im not sure if its a wire issue. my 3rd gen headlight switch was messed up and caused all might interior lighting to do crazy things.
new headlight switched fixed the issue. have you wired up the 4th gen headlight switch yet?
hopefully its something simple.

Re: 4th gen dash swap

i figured i might have just messed up on the headlight switch i might work on this on friday . i was able to get the interior lightin form the cluster im guessin the other appliances has a missing ground. .. so so far ill get the small light in the fog light switch hooked up as awell as the headlight switch lighting.

ill figure out the turn signals later.

hooked up my gauges and fan switches where the hvac controls suppose to go .. this might be temporary until i get the ac unit workin again.

some how my wirign diddnt match up . i didnt have any white on th e 4th gen switches.. they look more like grey.. that would be my instrumental lighting etc. everything is hooked up soemhow and working. i might have missmatched the turn signals and my dome light isnt workin with the dimmer on position so i left it out..

What are you going to do about your gas gauge? That being a 97+ cluster there is going to be problems. I do however have a solution to the gas gauge I think there is one other issue with that cluster though.

a 97 cluster is the easiest to navigate. it still has the std 90ohm gm sendor.
mine works perfect.

Re: 4th gen dash swap

those are custom made fiberglass caps off of fatals car.
you dont have to mold anything.
if you get creative, you can shave the 4th gen ones down and they will look factory. just takes time.
i wouldnt buy a dashpad online.... it will likely be the wrong color, or be cracked when you get it.
GM is pricey, but you wont have to buy it twice, and it wont crack on you a week later seeing its never been baking in the sun.

Re: 4th gen dash swap

Hey TPI, the swap is lookin good. It seems that you and I took the same route, but I got a question or two for ya. How did you get the milage on a digital odometer to display with an L98? I was first using the V6 cluster that has an analog odometer and now I'm using a cluster out of a Formula still with an analog odometer but would really like to use a Z28 cluster with the digital read out.

i believe the numbers showed up from the original camaro that the cluster came off of. so it wont match up to my original miles.

i have question for you guys , i just bought some c5 seats and i cant find any brackets for these. is this ganna be tough? i dont have any welding equipment or experiences . ive searched but cant find much .

Re: 4th gen dash swap

Awsome, so a digital odometer cluster from a 97 will work just the same as an analog odometer cluster? Something else I was wondering about, did you have to use the converter box from dakota digital or something of the like to make the speedo and tac register correctly?

As for fitting those seats, well I don't have that answer but they look like they would go better in my car. Just pullin ya chain dude, good luck with em. How much did you give for em?

Re: 4th gen dash swap

I started my dash swap... How do you get the plastic a/c piping to mate with the 3rd gen firewall? I just cant seem to fit it. I tryed looking at that pic of how you installed the 4th gen piping, but what did you do? I am clueless. Holding the piping in my hand trying to figure this out... I want my air to blow out the vents...

Once you cut it... What do you have? A/C? Heater? Just warm air?

Re: 4th gen dash swap

Ok, someone help me with the wiring on the headlight and dimmer switch. The first pic is a pic of the 4th gen headlight switch's wiring. The wire on the far right is actually brown, and the wire on the left is black.

The second pic is of the 3rd gen headlight switch wires. I need to know which colors to plug where.
