Electric Speedo conversion - 84 Bird
I know there's a tech article out there... but what I'm looking to do is a bit more involved.
I'm getting tired of the speedo cable in my car, and would like to swap out to electric - but... I want to keep the stock face of the gauge. Incase some people don't know, there's a difference between 82-84 and 85 and later. Also, my speedo only goes up to 85, which is fine to me, but I haven't seen any electric ones this low.
The other option, is that I saw a place that makes a 160 MPH gauge in the correct style... but its cable driven. I can't just swap the face, because there aren't any electric speedos that go up to 160 MPH... anyone have any thoughts?

I guess your stuck with it unless you want to trade the appearance.
Why you want electric anyway? If the speedo is working, just leave it alone and let it do its job.

Mostly because eventually I want a T56 and I don't want to buy a cable X box. Plus I have an LT1, need a 4000 pulse signal, and don't want to get an adaptor unless I have to.

Just pull everything you need from a 86+ or pop a iroc 140mph speedo into the t/a houseing, paint the back orange ( for the proper lighting) and your set.
