Swapping Gauge Clusters, V6 to V8

Hey Guys,

I have a V6, base model care (idiot lights), that was switched over to gauges before I bought it. They gauges didn't work properly, so I took out the cluster to see that the person used the old idiot light circuit board, and soldered wires from the out idiot light sockets to the gauges.

I bought a new V8 cluster to swap in, but it seems that the "pin outs" on the circuit board are different, and nothing works. They are both cable driven speedos. Any ideas what's going on and how to change the pins in the dash to what I need?

Thanks!

Re: Swapping Gauge Clusters, V6 to V8

Hey guys, nearly 3 years later, and same issue! All was fine, since I bought a V8 harness - except the wipers didn't work... turned out the wiper circut was different, due to the year.. (Think it was an 86 harness). So, I had to swap back to my orginal V6 harness to get that to work. I was going to swap the pins in the dash connectors, but the colors don't match up at all! I need help please!

Maybe there'll be something useful in the following link:

Thanks, but that is far a camaro... I was doing lots of searching yesterday and seem that when going from idiot lights to gauges on a firebird, its no where near a direct swap.. There was some hope, a user named KED85 was working on it, but he passed away .
