Three gauges on the door?

I was wondering if I could put 3 gauges up on the door facing on my 92 Bird? Are they hard to hook up? (ex: link below)

http://www.roadrageperformance.ca/autometer.php

What gauges would I need and/or should I wait until I get a new engine?

its not hard if you know what your doing. it mounts over the stock pillar and you drill little holes threw them both and use the little "tree" push tabs to hold it in place. as for gauges.......thats up to what you want to use. i have the dual gauge pillar in my car and have an air/fuel gauge and oil pressure gauge both autometer phantoms.

pretty easy to do. I went ahead and drilled holes through the pillar for all the wires, then screwed the pod in, instead of those stupid plastic thumb tacts.

Yikes... that kinda talk will definately get you booted here!

I've heard it called both. Roof or A pillar, though it seems as if it's more commonly called the A pillar when it's an import.

Either way, it comes out easy and you can route the wires right into the dash, so it isn't a bad job at all.

Any recommended gauges? What kind of gauges should I put there. Water, Oil pressure, etc?

most ppl put the air/fuel ratio, you shouldnt need oil or water temp unless your gauges are not hooked up like mine, same goes for volt meter, because again it should be in the dash already. So options left are, air/fuel, trans temp, oil temp, vacuum, etc.... open up an autometer or summit catalog, theres lots of options. You can never have too many gauges, i love that look.

Ammeter is another one, but i wouldnt recommend it, because it measures what your alternator is producing, and the only way to measure it, is if the amps go through the ammeter, before they go to your car's electrical system. SO you have to run all that power through a wire INTO the car, and then back out to the electrical. HUGE fire hazard.

IMO if you go with a dual gauge pod, I'd go w/a trans temp gauge, and air/fuel. If you are worried about it being hard to install, I think the easiest gauges to install, would be #1, a vacuum gauge(and it would be a good choice to have), and pretty much any gauge that would be an upgrade from stock (oil pres, temp, volts).

Now if your going to go with a triple gauge pod on the other hand, you might as well just get a boost gauge, and slap on a home-made turbo kit.....
Thats the route I would go

dubcity- i was also thinking of mounting gauges there, but i planned on mounting them on individual mounts so i could angle them all towards the drivers seat. i also planned on putting a shift light in the vent just aboe those gauges.

as for gauge choice ive been planning on water temp, oil press., and trans temp., but a vacuum gauge is a very good thing to have. u can do alot of trouble shooting with a vacuum gauge alone.

the only reason i am getting an after market water temp gauge is cause my current one hasnt worked since i bought the car. My factory oil pressure gauge is way off. (run an oil pressure test on your car and see how accurate that stock gauge is. WOW!) and trans temp so i dont over heat my trans from too many burnouts. haha!

yeah man thats a good idea,
i dont think mine are angled towards the driver enough,
and if i did it any more the passenger could see the
wires n such behind the guages and it looked like shitt

hey, heeeeyyyy! Not all of us can afford the bling, and to keep their cars looking sexy. My reservation rocket is fast, and that's all that matters to me

The thaw is coming, your car going to be ready to be spanked?

FWIW - I call 'em the A pillar (and my curiosity is killing me, what can a guy say that'll get 'em banned that fast?). I was going to get a vacuum and A/F gauge there, I think those are the most common, especially on a carbed car.

That looks good but I think the a-pillar looks more stock than in the radio bezel.

I don't want to draw alot of attention to my car so I have a vacuum gauge under hood as well as fuel pressure. Those are the types of things I don't need to see all the time- I think they just get in the way when mounted all over the interior. Of course they're great to have, especially when troubleshooting.

Regarding Air/Fuel Ratio gauges- those narrow band ones don't really do anything. If it's not wideband it's a waste of money.

Yeah that looks awesome, but isn't he looking to add more gauges? There's only so much room available in the stock cluster's location.
