Re: Power Seat Recliner

One car is an 85 z28 with gray custom cloth and the other is an 88 sports coupe with tan custom cloth. I doubt they would give you a hard time as the seats are pretty worn out and exposed to the elements. Ill give you the heads up that they are kind of on the expensive side as far as u pull it prices go for some things but their a great group of people down there. also there is an 84 TA if there are any other parts your looking for.

I have a power seat recliner mechanism off my '83, if that would work for you, it looks the same to me. no idea on price, make me an offer, I'd also have to calculate the shipping.

Looking closer at your diagram the part labeled "3" is actually just the passenger side seat recliner (shown from it's backside), I have that too if you're interested.

These were pulled off my '83 with the 6-way power driver's seat. I've attached pics of the driver-side and passenger-side.

Mmk, so you're saying that you had the parts your needed all along or are still looking?

Because paddle no. 22 is only on the passenger side recliner so if you're looking for that for a driver's side seat then it doesn't exist, to my knowledge. If you look at no. 3 it's just the passenger side recliner shown from it's backside, and doesn't get attached with panel 17 as that is the driver side panel.

My car had panel 17 and 8 on the factory driver's seat, but maybe they were different in '83 or something? but it doesn't look different to me, idk.

Ha, no worries. I've done similar things while reading.

Yup, those panels should fit just fine as long as you've swapped out the complete power seat track and everything.

Are both of those panels there that hold the switchgear the same? the one in the top left looks shorter than the other.

How exactly are they not fitting? is a bolt not lining up or is it a space issue or what?

Ok, I don't see your panel 8 in the pic but if I remember correctly from disassembling mine panel 8 goes between the seat and the recliner, not on the outside of the recliner like the diagram shows. I could be wrong, but that could be one of your problems there. As proof I've attached the two pics, if you look at the passenger side seat in the second picture, you can see the passenger version of panel 8 -behind- the recliner, between it and the seat. It's the same on the driver's side, but my seatbelts block the view.

As for the switch panel, the holes should be predrilled, and it's a tight fit (as it took a fair amount of wiggling to get it off once it was unbolted on mine). I recommend raising the seat as high as it can go, it may help.

Your panels on the drivers seat are the same ones I'm trying to mount.Where does the black fastener(in my pic) mount to the power seat frame? I really appreciate you taking the time to help me.

I'm wondering if it would be easier to attach everything with the seat out.

Cool, that little black fastener is shown in my attached pic(look on the backside of the switch panel, mine is rusted but it's towards the front end of the panel) and (if I remember correctly, it's been a while) it bolts into the little metal tab located on the front right corner of the track (you can see it in the picture, bottom right-most corner of the pic)

does that all make sense? and glad to help!!

That might explain some things lol.

Is that pic how it is now or after you turned it around? Because on mine the elongated holes on the top mount to the front of the seat bottom, and by your picture it appears you have them mounting to the back.

I'm surprised at the difference in appearance from the '83 to yours, looks like they made the whole apparatus a little simpler, haha.

I believe so, yes. Though at this point that is an educated guess as I have long sold my power track and am just going from pictures.
