I looking for an original Delco Radio to replace the faulty one in my 1988 Firebird Formula. Need one in good working order, if it's missing a **** or two it's ok since I can use the ones on the old radio if needed to replace them.

How bout one from an 87 in perfect working condition? $140 shipped, or $125 shipped with yours in exchange. Paypal to mrzhvac@aol.com

That one looks like a later model radio or one that was a higher price option than the one I have. Mine has no equalizer, just 2 vertical sliders for base and treble. It does have a yellow power button and one gray on for tape type. Do you repair these units? Mine has no right channel out and the cassette player isn't working

Go here,

The bottom one is the same, just swap out your grey buttons and ***** for the chrome ones. And yes I do repair those old radios.

Yeah, that looks like mine except for the the button color. How much do you want for that one? Also, if you repair them, what do you estimate it would cost to fix mine? I'm not too concerned about the cassette player, although it would be nice to have it working just for originality sake.

Still, I might be interested in the first one if it has the same connections. It would be a nice upgrade and maybe I could get the original one fixed and keep it in case I wanted to return it to stock for some reason. But before I do anything I would like to be sure it's the radio and not an amplifier or dead speaker or something like that. The left side speakers and front rear fade work fine, but I get nothing out of the right side. If I turn the balance all the way to the right, I get no sound at all from any speakers. Is there a simple way to test if it's the radio? One guy suggested swapping the right and left channel connectors on the back, but on this model the blue and white connectors appear to be the front and rear speaker connections, and they're keyed anyway, so you can't switch them. If one speaker on the right shorts out, will it kill the other one? Is there an amplifier that I can get to and check that might cause this symptom?

Like the link says $20 shipped in the lower 48 states.
You don't have an amplifier unless you or a PO installed one.
It is a common problem with those that the solder joints weaken and fail.
Both radios I have are working including the cassettes. I don't sell them any other way.
As far as wiring connections go, You will be changing from a 21 pin connector (you don't use them all anyway) to a 12 pin connector, color to color swap out using the blue clamp on splices I will supply along with the pigtails and wiring diagram.

Oh, forgot, usually $40 to repair just the radio section if it is repairable, cassette probably just needs a belt replaced, I may have a good one,,,

I think I'll try that $20 radio that's closest to mine (bottom of the photo). I'll switch the ***** (and illumination bulbs, unless it's red already) and see how that works.
I'm sending you payment by Paypal shortly, I'll contact you later if I decide I want you to try and repair the original one.

Thanks,

Dave Edwards
