Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
Hi Formula, I am interested in a kit for my 87 formula. I would just like fast down both sides. You mentioned in an earlier post that you no longer have any switch sockets. I really just like to plug and play and not bother with attaching my switch socket. What can you do for me? Are you now using the micro relays?

I received my harness kit from Formula and let me tell you, this is a work of art. His workmanship it top notch. I cannot install it until after the winter, so when I do, I will let you know how it works out. And a real pleasant fella to work with.

Hi guys
I bought a set of these kits from Formula about a month ago. They haven’t arrived yet and I am getting a bit worried as I ordered other stuff from the US and they have arrived around a week ago.
I have tried contacting Formula numerous times perhaps he can check with USPS / insurance however can’t get hold of him. Did anyone of you guys here contact him recently?

Hey Alex-here is a screenshot of what shows up on the usps site as far as tracking info. Once it leaves the US and is abroad there is not usually any control over customs for example or sometimesitems can be held, checked/searched etc for whatever reason and at any time.

Hi Formula
yes I am getting the same information from the tracking. It seems odd that after all this time it is still not here so I thought maybe you can contact them from your side to try and get some more meaningful information from them

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
Yes I can confirm that it finally arrived AT A PREMIUM.
Why was it declared at a cost of $175 is a mystery to me.
Formula, is there a reason why you shot the value so high? I incurred 45$ on it which doesn’t make sense when in reality I paid 110$ including postage!! At 110$ I wouldn’t have paid a cent as it would have not reached the threshold.

Hey Formula any reason for not responding to my messages i sent you?? I sent payment for a relay kit on March the 23rd after you gave me the price and ive yet to get a kit from you or even a response! Hate to call you out on your post but ive made attempts through pm's to get ahold of you concerning where my kit is or if its shipped and 146$ isnt something i just like to give away .
Edit: formula did reach out to me yesterday and was very informative as to why there was a delay. Thanks Formula!

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
Hi, Received my kit 4 months ago and just got time to install it. The cable was much too long to fit under the consul, so I had to cut 2 feet of of it. Since I installed a new radio, there was no room for wire and modules in the radio console. Soldered and heat shrunk the connections.
Taking apart the cable its obvious Formula is a talented constructor, the cable and modules are top notch. I had no problem placing all the wiring and modules to the back of the console area. This works so good, I now regret I did not get the down and up system, I just have auto down, both sides.
Formula, if you read this, is there a mod you can do to upgrade the system to auto up and down?
Louis

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
Hi there
I have finally installed the kit yesterday according to the logic. Removed spade connectors from factory block and placed the kit wires (same color position) instead of them. I then matched the colors of the wires removed from the stock blocks into the supplied black connector block to the harness white connector and connected the earth lugs to a bolt.
Problem is that I can hear the relays but the motor works intermittently. If I fiddle around with pressing switches it works intermittently. And it is doing this on both doors so I doubt it is a motor problem. I even swapped the switches across doors but still the same. I will tonight try to short the switch connector wires to completely eliminate the switches (still have to see which wires to short). Could it be I had failing switches and now due to less load , they are not making proper contact?
Also, when you say 'omit oem black wires' do I have to remove them or keep them there? I kept them in the switch plug.

You will not need the 2 black ground wires that were on the switches. put a little tie wrap and tuck them aside. They do not have voltage in them.

Thanks Louis. Will remove the black cables from the switch connectors. I doubt it is the reason why this is happening but will anyway remove them.
Will keep you updated.

You mean to see where / how i tucked the relays or close up's of the connectors to see if I cabled them properly or not?

with my setup, the switches are now only ground triggers-if the windows work when fiddling around with the switches then my guess is the racheting action of the switches are pretty worn-a simply jumper wire from pink to brown should trigger down and pink to blue up on the drivers door for example.

Thanks guys
I jumpered the cables and windows worked fine. I removed the black wires and windows worked fine also. So the black wires were the culprit.

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
Sorry mate but I couldnt take a photo of the whole thing installed and there is a very valid reason for it. Be ready to swear bigtime to install this kit in a firebird. The relay modules and the wires in this kit are very big / thick compared to the availability of space in the console. The top cover of the console is quite thin and you cannot afford to have the wires pushing against it as it will bulge it up.
You also have to leave enough space for the shifter to work. I had to remove the whole console again to wrap the kit wires around the base of the shifter. I also had to separate the 4x relay block in 2x 2 relay block to distribute them on each side of the console. And mine does not have any auto up/down. That would mean another 4x modules if I am not mistaken. (for both windows).
Once I got all miraculously in place I couldnt afford to remove them again to take pictures however I am attaching the stock connectors before i removed them from their blocks. Its very easy. You only have to remove the wires from the white and blue connectors (pinch the small tab on each slider) and put in the kit's wires which are colored the same in the white and blue connectors. Make sure you remove the stock black connector and tape it aside as this will not be used.
You then take the removed wires from the stock loom and clip them in the supplied black connector lining them up with the supplied white connector.

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
Hi all, the only problem I had with the install was the fact that the cable was too long. formula designed the cable to allow you to place the modules up under the radio console. I cut 2+ feet off the cable and then everything was nice and compact. I have the auto down and the modules fit nicely way to the back of the console and relays went down to the side. I lashed them securely to make sure they did not interfere with the shifter. Actually I had a little room to spare. If you have the long cable, shorten it and you will have plenty of space.

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
That wasn't an option for me as I don't have the connectors and crimper for those sliders but yes I guess with some cutting they can be made to fit.
I still don't think there was enough length to place the relays under the radio pod but anyway. Still the kit is very professionally made and will solve problems related to poor switch contacts

aseychell, sorry to get off topic. I see you are from Malta. What is the car scene on the island, what kind of cars? Do you have any problem getting parts? Since this is a very historical place, any problem traveling around via car?

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
Well car scene is very active here in Malta. To give you an idea Malta is the highest country in the world with the most Ferraris per population. Motoring in Malta is quite aggressive even if you look at high octane championship at Santapod.
Obviously parts for American cars have to be ordered but I guess that is the same all over the world excluding America itself.

Is there a mod you can do to my auto down system to make it auto up also?

Hi Louis! Yes I can add auto up also-but I’d need your harness back to add the additional auto up feature.

Ended up getting a hold of Formula and ordered a kit a month ago. Sent the money to the PayPal address given and haven't received any sort ofof communication after...will see how this all plays out. Sent several emails and PMs
