$100K? "...substantial growth potential ..." LOL.
These "classis car 'dealers' " have no shame. I put all of them in the same carpet bag as Barret-Jackson, Mecum, etc.
smh............

This car just sold last month at Barrett Jackson for $55k.
it’s a really low optioned car. If it was TPI I think it would have been higher.

Bumpers have hairline cracks and scuffs. Previous owners couldn't even drive it 11 miles without bumping into stuff????
A/C compressor frozen up. Original wheels gone/MIA. "$100,000 FIRM".
This new owner is smoking crack.
Edit to add picture:
Looks like a portion of its life was NOT in humidity controlled environment. There are more pics
like this. Nice car, just not 100k nice.

One-of-a-kind and beautiful, for sure, but the lack of original wheels taints that $100,000 price tag, at least, for me.
I get the whole, removing the original wheels (and tires), due to the car being stored in a trailer for a quarter-to-half a century, thing, but the car was being stored for the purpose of being showcased in a museum someday, so it makes no sense to have sold those wheels.
They should've been stored with the car, or maybe stacked and used for a table in the shop until that day arrived. Two are perfect for coffee tables; all four are perfect for a bar table.

Re: 11 MILE 1985 IROC-Z
Below is the original YouTube video uploaded 15 years ago of this car with 4.3 miles being found in a semi trailer.
For the life of me I can't figure out why a guy would order a IROC-Z with the LG4 and not the optional L69 5.0L H.O. engine.
This car was also lived in by mice. They ate the entire under hood pad and God only knows what else and probably peed and pooped everywhere.

The reason for the LG4 was because the original owner wanted a manual trans for the race car. It was an easier starting point with the LG4/manual as the plan was to pull the motor anyway. This was the 1st year for the IROC-Z and in 1985, a race car based on the newest hot car on the market would have been awesome.
This is the old 4.3 mile car that we already know wasn't stored properly, so it will have some undercarriage rust issues. In today's market, I can see a collector paying the $100k for this car because of the popularity of it. It does not represent the normal low mile IROC-Z. It's got celebrity status.

Re: 11 MILE 1985 IROC-Z
@scottmoyer Yeah I had remembered the story about it being purchased to become a race car and him selling off the wheels and tires but I didn't hear that story in that old video I posted or I overlooked it while watching it again. I thought maybe I had misremembered the race car story and confused it with another car. But it seems weird that the guy wouldn't have ordered a hardtop car with minimum options and even credit option deleted some of the standard equipment. It's also possible he didn't order the car and the dealer had this one on the way and he said he'll take it just the way it comes off the car hauler as soon as it arrives.
Is the race car story in one of the other videos about the car or an article online somewhere?

Guess the seller could be trying to show there’s interest in it and I’m wrong. Just a thought.

Re: 11 MILE 1985 IROC-Z
That's what I hear lol. And when that was pointed out earlier, I remembered it from the original video many years ago. But it doesn't change my mind or my point.
If someone wants to get $100,000 for an undriven, factory original car, then I'd expect it to have the factory original wheels on it, not NOS replacements; whether the wheels do or don't have matching numbers is irrelevant to me. But that's obviously not an issue for most people, so if somebody is going to pay that for it, then that's their choice, and that's cool for the community. But to the buyer, the community may or may not even be relevant.
The owners of this car are lucky it's remained in the shape that it's in, so they should be happy to take a good, collectible value for it, because if the original owner had been able to complete his task, then this car would've been trashed when it was brand new, and it would be worthless today, if not already junked and destroyed decades ago, and the current owner wouldn't have this opportunity. I wish him the best of luck with his sale.

Re: 11 MILE 1985 IROC-Z
There are for sure bragging rights buyers for something like this & I also recall all the coverage of this car when it came out of the trailer.
Not the best storage location as far as temperatures & humidity goes, but still well preserved considering. Wasn't there several trailers
& the guy passed away? I forgot all about the wheels missing from it, I'm sure thats all in the videos, just don't feel like watching them again..

Regarding the wheels, I helped Keith locate a factory new set in Canada. I can't recall if Chazman provided the hood pad, or they were able to get that on their own. There were many people from this board involved in helping get that car back to where it started life. I'm not sure of the current condition, but I remember after it was completed, Keith went to a few car shows with it. I don't know how good the paint looked then versus now, but I question if Charlie can "do his thing" to this car and improve it, without repainting the bumper covers.

I saw that the car sold. Don't know for how much, but it was quick, so would assume it was for asking price or close to it.

I haven't looked at it that closely. Anyone have a pic of the damaged bumper cover.

A sucker born every minute.
I doubt they got asking price or anywhere close to it. People say all kinds of crazy things.

Re: 11 MILE 1985 IROC-Z
I just got off the phone with the seller. He claimed the asking price was firm and the car sold to a collector at asking price. There are a couple cars now that have peeked the $100k mark, and they don't get driven. Barrett-Jackson sold a 1990 convertible in September '23 for $102k after buyer's premium.

Re: 11 MILE 1985 IROC-Z
Maybe, maybe not.
Everytime this car has sold since being discovered 15 years ago, it has sold for more money that the previous sale. Each time there were plenty of people saying the buyer overpaid, and they were all wrong.
As with all investments, the investor is betting that this car will sell for more in the future. Only time will tell if that will be true. In the meantime, the buyer has a pretty nice car to look at in the garage.
My guess is this car will sell again in the next 3-5 years for more than $100K.
