POLL Restoring IROC Z VERT for resale, Add subframe connectors? Yes/No.
Hi. I have owned my 81U "Bright Red" exterior, Black with Charcoal Cloth upholstery interior, 1989 IROC Z Vert 305 LB9 TPI /AT , for over six years. It is RUST FREE, Un-Molested, Stock, Ca. car with a "Clean" Carfax. I'm thinning my heard, and I rely enjoy restoring cars. I have done quite a few.
I'm doing, new Original "Bright Red" Paint, ALL NEW weatherstrip, New fabric top, New "Duplicate or OE Upholstery, 8 New Injectors, Overhaul fuel Rail and Pressure Regulator, Plugs, Wires, Brakes and Suspension as needed, New water pump, belt, radiator, T-Stat, etc.
I am considering adding Inner Subframe Connectors, because, reading TGO, everyone who added them reported good results, AND I believe Subframe Connectors will get a Third Gen F Body, just a little closer, to modern vehicle structural rigidity. A LITTLE closer.
Please vote and Opine, will potential bringatrailer.com (BAT) Bidders, appreciate subframe connectors? Will I presumably at least "Break Even" on the money spent?
I want to build a NICE PRODUCT!
Thank you for reading this!

If you were to keep the car the answer is absolutely install the Alston inner subframe connectors. I've driven and rode in 87 to 92 3rd gen convertibles and 87 to 90 convertibles are rattle traps. Squeak, rattle, moan, groan, wiggle, jiggle, snap, crackle, and pop cars with 87 to 90 verts. 91/92 verts are light years better. I guess gluing them together and all the other improvements GM made to the 91/92 verts and later 91 and 92 hardtops and T-tops cars was worth it because they are way better cars. I own a 80k mile 92 T-top Firebird and it is noticeably tighter, smoother, and quieter than an early lower mileage 91 down hardtop car.
Also on a 90 down vert for sure if you want a smooth, quiet car don't replace rubber parts with polyurethane parts. Motor mounts, trans mount, suspension parts. If you replace shocks and struts then nothing within reason is better than Koni Yellow Sports.
If you intend to sell you car on BAT this year then the window for selling a convertible is rapidly closing as fall approaches if you want to get top dollar for it and the recession is coming.

I could see it both ways, however those who like them could always add them if they choose. I don't think the car not having them would distract a potential buyer at all, but the opposite might be true with some buyers? I personally am a nut about original surviving cars & the equipment they had from the factory. I would not want to see them added, but This is a car that you are freshening up & restoring so its going to be a slightly different market of buyers that might appreciate them.
I am starting to waffle...........
If your restoration intention is to restore everything back to stock form as close as possible & sell, I would not add them.
But thats just me.
Also keep in mind that your poll is in the History / Originality forum, so your audience here might lean a bit to originality as well.

OK NO Urethane bushings (except anti-sway bar end links, which were OE Urethane, and don't squeak).
And, yes I am going original appearance and function, right down to the AM/FM/Cassette Radio.

If you’re just selling the car, no I wouldn’t waste my time. Most buyers aren’t going to care.
if you’re keeping it, yeah I would.

I voted no as it’s a resale. Would it make a better car? Yes, for sure but I wouldn’t buy one where they have been added without a hefty discount. Mods are personal choice so safest to stick to stock. Let the next owner add them if they choose.
