91 Z28 hood questions
It's been a long time since I posted here and currently own a 2010 Camaro. Looking into purchasing a 3rd Gen again to go with it. I came across a red 91 z28 and it had the hood louvers and not the blisters. The seller said it came like that from the factory as a custom order. I have never heard or seen this before. Although it did have the rear high rise spoiler. I asked for a photo of the RPO sticker either in the front center console or the rear hatch compartment. The seller said the previous owner ripped it off. I then asked for the vin and he did not feel comfortable sending it to me to do a carfax etc... Is this actually a thing with these hoods? Were they able to be custom ordered new to the prior year hood louvers rather than the 91-92 hood blisters? It was also missing the front fog lamps. Instead it has the front black louver insert the base models had. Ground effects were in place for 91-92 and it had the 91-92 interior. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

No. I’m stating that RS cars could also come with the 305 tpi. Just because it has a tpi engine it doesn’t mean it’s a real Z28. There weren’t any Carbureted Camaros in 91. Only tpi and tbi at that point.

The RS was NOT available with the TPI engine (Except B4C) or the high rise spoiler. The Z28 wasn't available with the louvered hood. This car is not as it came from the factory and if the seller won't give you the details to decode it, walk away.

Of course some people like the louvers instead of the blisters.... And all you need to do to convert it is remove the blisters and install the louvers... It's the same hood... The blisters cover the louvers indents.... I have cars with both...
So it could still be the original z hood....
So it could still be the original z hood....

Yes I walked away since the seller refused to provide me with a pic of the RPO or even the vin.

I'm not sure I understand why so many are worried about the VIN or the license plate being known. The license plate is seen by millions when you drive the car and the VIN is available to anyone that walks up and looks at it. I do understand it for the super rare cars that have an option of being cloned, or the car's identity being stolen for a clone, but for everything else, it's not a big deal.
