A picture of a pacecar used for the GM motorsport series back in 86/87. I had seen other pics of it ... but this was one of the better ones. Early work between ASC and GM. I like the Recaro seats. I don't have any history on the car whether it was a GM test mule (most likely) or a production car. My guess is an early test car, never to be sold to the public. So little info survived on the GM Canada Test cars. Somewhere in an autowrecker it might lie ...
ASC had made a few cars as far back as 1985, I know of a single 1985 Camaro ASC Convertible. I have record of 3 Trans Ams for 1986, Never spotted an 85 Firebird convertible, however the 3 Firebird convertibles used at the Detroit Auto Show in 1986 may have been 85's or 86's as the show historically took place in January 1986. This is a really neat find, did not know they used any to pace races in Canada. Thanks for sharing.

I have a slide of the car pacing a racing in 1986. I thought it was pretty cool, but it wasn't a great pic to look at the details. At least this one tags ASC, GM Motorsports. If I recall the GM Engineer ... he said they had test mules back then. What better advertising than pacing a race on TV?
I've got many old magazine and racing programs ... lots of good info in them.
