I actually know what one serious collector was willing to pay, he told me this weekend. I will not reveal that person or the amount.

The owner would NEVER have known any of this had I not been on the Firehawk pages looking at numbers. Hes in shock that its really the car #18. I would never have realized it had he not told me the story of the car. The car needs a fuel pump. I thought I said that early in the thread. The car was started 7-8 years ago and ran fine. Thats about 8 years worth of dust. Some say convert it. Some say leave it alone. Thats serious collectors words too. There are lots of options out there. The parts can be obtained I am being told. Just as stated on here. My opinion is this car with every part laying around it to convert it would be worth close to 3 digits. Converted even more. The owner wont be on here. So that ones out the door. Im thankful for the positive feedback I got here finally. I knew this would not be a 18k$ regular Formula. Collector confirmed about a week after I made this post. If the car was for sale for 25k. Id buy it. Im no dummy as though some may say. Firehawk.org numbers had a huge hand in finding this car. Had not been for those list I would never have realized it could be the car.

Just kidding. I don't know if you're talking about Greg or not, but he definitely was a serious collector and this type of car would have been for him. But I thought he got out to focus on better things.

I already have the period correct 1.75 Headers, collectors and cat-back exhaust, unfortunately my exhaust setup is for the single not dual cats, so a new collector would be in order... Now I need the restrictive T-ram, the Dana 44, the center console modification, the ZF Trans, trans mount the Brembo Brakes, all of the brackets, and the list goes on...

The person I talked to was not anywhere close to the 6 figure range for the car as it sits... And no it was not Greg

IMO, you'd be hard pressed to aquire all the parts you'd need to build it as a Firehawk, and when you do find them, getting someone to part with them is another story.
Most that have these parts hang onto them even when tempted with big $$$ offers.....you hoarders know who you are (kidding of course) but I'm envious of you guys that have all the cool SLP parts from years ago

The biggest problem is the fact that after the purchase of the car, you will be in for around $30-50K to get the proper parts to have them laying around. The only people that should get this thing should already have the parts to go on the car IMO, and I know a few who have them.

If this where my car, I’d reach out to SLP and see if they would finish the conversion with original parts. Maybe start a youtube channel on the processes. That would be neat. Then the internet can argue if it’s a real Firehawk due to being converted 30 years late.

I thought this yesterday. Just curious what SLP would think about having this car back after the years have gone by. Pretty cool conversation to have for sure!!

and I seem to remember something about a fire that destroyed a lot of their documents, prints, etc (also a long time ago).
Maybe one of the others here knows more about it but I dont think this is an option, or even if there is anyone still at SLP that is from the 3rd gen era or knows anything about the parts?

Roush bought SLP in 2013. I agree that all the people and products are probably gone.
If you could get in touch with Dave Hamburger, that might get you some answers.

Certainly getting the parts would be challenging but I believe it's doable. Most all the parts are out there. Although the console may need to be remade but I believe is all doable. I do think that the cost would be more than the value of the finished car but it’s hard to say. Interesting stories do have value in the car world.

From a parts collection standpoint, it's taken me since SLP was still selling them new till now and I'm not completely finished.
I do have a couple things to get yet and we'll be pretty close to nuts on.
It also depends on how crazy accurate you want to go with it. I can say it's a cazy rabbit hole to go down

I believe the tooling, molds, etc to make those parts is long gone.....I talked to the folks at SLP years ago
and I seem to remember something about a fire that destroyed a lot of their documents, prints, etc (also a long time ago).
Maybe one of the others here knows more about it but I dont think this is an option, or even if there is anyone still at SLP that is from the 3rd gen era or knows anything about the parts?

I'm no expert AT ALL...not even knowledgeable...just thinking out loud here....
So if we start with a well optioned car of $20k-ish....add the $5k (non-refundable I would assume) deposit for placing the Firehawk order that Reggie Harris mentioned in his presentation...then some taxes...we would end up in the $26k range, no? Not suggesting that number is correct, but if it's what the OP recalls the owner mentioning, then it seems plausible.
And Bruce H. was there too? I would have liked to meet him.

Hi point for me was seeing Shinella and Davis as we were leaving Tipp City, and both stopped to give us (well, the car) a big thumbs up. Bill said he was a big proponent of the monochromatic look, and had ordered a red car with red wheels for his daughter back in the day. Their enthusiasm for the product across the board was infectious.
I added some show photos to my thread HERE if anyone cares to see them.
Now back to the OP's topic (sorry about that).

Re: 1992 B4U Firehawk!!?? 11k miles. Need help identifying this car!
From a Camaro guy and seeing how collectors work, I would think the car's highest value is in the fact that it wasn't converted, but needs all of the official parts. If someone could collect all of the parts destined for car #18 in 1992, and have them with the car, but not installed, would probably be the best.
If you do nothing with it and leave it alone, it's just as any other car but being a 1LE with AC. There's no Firehawk value to it. If you add all of the parts, it's now a Firebird with all of the Firehawk parts, but the history has now been tarnished.
The best of both worlds is the car, as it is, with all of the correct parts in boxes.
John, you have a Roush. Can't you contact them and see if they can help you out?

That's my position as well, collect all the parts but don't install them.
I'd setup a display with them positioned as they would be installed on the car.
Done correctly it would be a massive undertaking but oh so cool.

This is super cool! I am building a real clone of a firehawk and I have pretty much everything to do it just down to the zf6 crossmember for stuff that is not easily fabricated. I am going to build a blue car but I’d change that if I where to get a car like this. I’d definitely convert is and make it the somewhat true slp firehawk. The one that was never built till now lol.

but anyway I don’t have the kind of money this car would cost at this time in life anyway nor would I put my family at such a financial risk buying a car I’d say could bring 30k easy. Unlike the last firehawk 17 that sold for 40k but was driven hard and used for what it was intended to be used for. And was missing a lot of the original stuff

With the way this thread has gone it probably means the owner is going to take the pictures of all the parts shown in Ulukslo's previous post, randomly lay them on the car, let it sit for 5 more years until dust can gather on said pictures, then some other random person will create a profile just to make a new thread asking how much the car is worth WITH the pictures laying on it of the parts that it was supposed to have gotten in the 90's but never did.
Circle of life and all that.

My bet is this goes nowhere.......just like the hundreds of threads we've seen like this in the past about various limited production cars.

It's not your car, I wouldn't worry about it.
Typically owners make their own accounts and talk for themselves. A lot of people start stories about their car purchases, discoveries, restoration, builds, in this part of the forum, click link here ---> Members Firebirds
I have no doubt people will enjoy seeing the story and progress toward cleaning it up and making it road worthy again. Honestly people will enjoy that, will be much warmer reception than this thread.
