Looking at this 87 IROC have ?s

Thinking on picking up this 87 IROC. I have been sent alot of pics and vids and it looks pretty damn clean.
58,000 miles on it. Only concern is seems the IROC decal is ahead farther then it should be. And the door to fender gap.
It looks like maybe some over spray on the hood strut.
Seller is very forward with info, prob doesnt know a super lot about these cars.

He was told it never had any damage and never been painted or touched up.

It has been in Canada now for the last 4 years and originally from Florida.
My concerns are the gap between the door and fender,
the door, IROC decal in the wrong place, and possible over spray on the hood strut.

How do I do a car fax report ?

What do you think its worth in US $$ ?

Car looks pretty clean. The gap could be from someone jacking the car up improperly. Carfax is pretty easy... Just go to carfax.com, put in your vin#, pay your money and a report in generated.

Re: Looking at this 87 IROC have ?s

I never recommend buying any car sight unseen, especially if there is any question about possible crash damage---or potential hidden rust. Can you inspect this vehicle in-person? The "He was told..." part of your post is a red flag to me.

As far as estimating a car's 'worth' on an internet site, that's a real hit-or-miss proposition. You can improve your odds, though, by providing many more photos of all aspects of the car, especially underneath and the interior. As far as providing a dollar amount based on the few pics you provided, I personally wouldn't do so; there's just not nearly enough information provided.

Re: Looking at this 87 IROC have ?s

Ya i totally agree with what you are saying.
I have someone going to look at it Wednesday who knows these cars very well. I do have more pics but waiting to post them until i have possession.
Its actually REEEAAAL clean. Leather seats are mint and no cracks.
I have an agreement with the seller that if everything checks out as they claim i am taking the car.

Re: Looking at this 87 IROC have ?s

The decal placement looks correct for an '87, so no concerns there. The fender/door gap IS from improper jacking, so that also is no concern, as it's an easy fix. I can't see the hood struts to know if that's paint or reflection, but the hood liner has also been removed, so the hood could've been painted.

Hey Scott. From searching online it appears the decal
is too far forward ?

Re: Looking at this 87 IROC have ?s

Well, without seeing the car in person, it's possible the decals were damaged and replaced, but not correctly. You can see the stripes have some damage, but it doesn't mean there's been a repaint. After looking more closely, the 5.7 Tuned Port Injection sticker under the emblem is also incorrect. That decal is supposed to be the same width as the Z28 emblem.

These are reasons why asking what something is worth without being seen, is impossible. There are too many variables that we don't know about or can't see.

What ever came out of this?

I seen the for sale ad. I won't post it in case the OP is still trying to buy. That way no one swoops in.

The pictures in the ad are so small can't really see much. If I was in the market and it checks out as it should, I would be around $10-12k CAD.

Re: Looking at this 87 IROC have ?s

I decided not to proceed.
Being a hard top Car it wouldn't have been what i wanted since i would rather T tops
i already have my Blue 87 fully restored But I am going to look for a low mileage T bar car

i was thinking the same price as mentioned above was another reason i didnt proceed.

And i did see the FB ad said sold

I've had 2 T Top cars and would rather have a hardtop. I guess everyone has different preferences. If I ever buy another one, it will be a hard top.

Getting your feet wet with a t-top is pretty much like getting your feet wet under any other circumstances.

haha, yeah, but when they don't leak, they're fantastic. Nothing beats driving around with the tops off on a warm summer night.
