92 RS 25th Anniversary - Need Help Pricing
Hi,
Wasn’t sure where to post this, hoping here works. I need help pricing my car. I am probably too emotionally involved....I had a lot of work done but we are pregnant and it has to go. Bittersweet.
Here’s a list, and some pics. Other than the body and exhaust, it’s pretty much all new. Would appreciate any ideas on what it might be worth.
New 350 HO small block Chevy crate engine with only about 1,000 miles on it.
Brand new 700R4 Transmission from Gearstar
Modified Astro van steering shaft to eliminate steering play
Seats were recushioned and have custom diamond stitched leather
Dakota Digital Dash
Aftermarket Camaro steering wheel
Moog Springs
Koni struts and shocks all around
4 new all season tires, original rims
Spohn weld-in subframe connectors
PIAA Superbass Horn

No idea about the price. Just wanted to say nice car.
And a Regal too! Awesome.

The line on the driver's rear quarter and driver door is seen in two different angles, so snow reflection isn't what I'm seeing. Is it the remnants of an old painted pinstripe?

Why don’t you give us an idea of what you think it’s worth. That way we can comment on it being worth more or less than you are hoping for.
For me, the green color is a big NO. But for someone wanting a sleeper, it may be perfect. It’s an RS, so another NO for me.......but again to someone else with a sleeper in mind, that could be perfect. Diamond interior, not for me. Aftermarket steering wheel, not for me. Digital dash, not for me. Super bass horn, not for me. You need to find the right person to sell this car to.......or put it on eBay and hope to find 2-3 guys looking for a street warrior. Hopefully you will come out good with the sale.

3-4K unless you show is something we aren't seeing. What is the engine running on TBI,Carb.. Lots of IFs.

I really didn’t have a price in mind but definitely north of $4k. The crate engine alone was around that. The transmission was a couple of thousand. I understand that you don’t get back what you put into it, but would just keep it for $4k honestly...if that’s what it’s worth.

Maybe more than I initially thought. Clean car and I'm sure a strong cruiser with that engine. Probably could get 6k. Good luck, nice car.

Thank you all for taking some time to help. Really appreciate it! Probably going to hold it...thought maybe if it was over $10k I’d part with it but maybe I’ll rent it out and drive with the kid in a few years. Have a good weekend!

Re: 92 RS 25th Anniversary - Need Help Pricing
Anything you've done that replaces something that is normally present in a solid used car, but is a direct replacement adds virtually no value. Upgraded replacement parts probably add 25-50% of their cost to the value. So for example a rebuilt transmission = no change in value. Congrats, you fixed something that people expect to work on a used car. Spent $4,000 on an upgraded engine? Figure it adds $1,000-2,000 above what the tired, original engine would have been valued.
The big thing holding the value back is that the car is an RS. That it's not bone stock with low miles is another kick in the nuts. You've made custom changes that you personally prefer, but that might not be appreciated by the widest segment of potential buyers, which potentially hurts the resale value. For example, if you painted "Brad's Car!" on the hood, anyone not named Brad might not be interested. If you have three guys named Brad considering the car, maybe two of them wouldn't like having their name painted on the hood of their car. But maybe that third Brad is the perfect storm and thinks that's the coolest thing ever and he'll pay extra for the novelty. Anything could happen.

what is the condition of the stuff you didnt replace ? paint , rims , interior like headliner , carpet , dash pad etc .. its hard to tell in the pics .. if those items were all in excellent condition and it ran perfect then i would say around 7k

Everything except the dashpad is great. This whole thread has been really helpful and completely understand I’ve customized it to a point where it speaks to totally different audience and would need to the right buyer. In the meantime I’ll put it on Hagerty Car Share to get some cash and use it when I can. Thanks everybody!

Or just beat the hell out of it. I know the care and respect I provide to rental cars. And those are the ones that only cost $40 a day. If someone was paying $3-400 a day to rent a car, you can bet they're going to "get their money's worth" out of it. Just my $.02
