Thank you ,yes the vin matches everywhere on the car & paperwork.
Gonna try to find out the code for these yellow stripes...
It seems weird my exterior colour is printed on the top ,someone said it should be lower on the sticker...

Yes, the color code should be way at the bottom, and the VIN at the very top...like this one

For the record, your RPO codes show 40U in the list. That denotes white. I'm going to have to agree that the label printer got skewed as there were no L98 produced cars with a silver ground effects in 1988. The black and silver is definitely for the previous car on the assembly line, a Black Sport Coupe.

Not a mistake. The C&C T-Tops are fine. There were many cars with them installed as like with yours, from 88'-92', the highest performance versions of the cars were generally not available with T-Tops (with a few exceptions). So, if you wanted a 305/5-speed or 350/auto with the performance rear axle ratio (and dual catalytic converters from mid-89' on) and T-Tops during those years, aftermarket C&C T-Tops were the only way to get T-Tops. Most of these cars with the C&C Tops were done by the dealer before delivery to the purchaser. It had to do with staying under the weight limit for which the EPA fuel economy was rated. Basically GM was trading off weight or rear gear ratio, but couldn't deliver both and be EPA compliant. The exception was the Firebird Formula. It was a lighter car, so they were able to offer all the go fast stuff and T-Tops in last couple of years of production.

Re: 88 + 89 IROC-Z with L98, T Tops, and G92?

Yeah for sure your SPID label was printed incorrectly. Top is paint codes from car before it and VIN and RPO codes are for your car.

Scott pointed out the 40U RPO code for the paint that matches your car. I overlooked that. A two tone car would have paint RPO code in the format XXU and XXL where XX = the paint color code and U denotes the Upper color code and L denotes the lower color code. If it only has one paint color RPO code XXU then it is a solid color car.

Also don't worry much about the aftermarket Cars & Concepts T-tops. Many cars had them and they were a well made T-top conversion. Probably even better than the factory T-tops as long as the installer did an excellent job on the conversion. They seal well and have an improved water drainage channel in them. It's also very likely this car had the T-top conversion done before the 1st owner bought the car by the dealership.

But make sure if you ever have to get new seals or parts for the T-tops that you inform the company you buy the parts from that they aren't factory CC1 T-tops and that they are aftermarket Cars & Concepts T-tops. Parts are available for the Cars & Concepts T-tops.

Also if you ever need to recover the T-top headliner due to sagging you will probably need to reuse the original backer board because it is not the same as a CC1 T-top car headliner and even if it was the replacement T-top headliner boards today don't even fit factory T-top cars right. They are made wrong so even on a CC1 T-top car you need to reuse the factory backer board.

Hardtop and CC1 T-top/Convertibles use different sun visors. CC1 T-top and convertibles use a curved sun visor that wraps around the header. Hardtop cars use a flat sun visor. Cars & Concepts T-tops car may use the factory hard top sun visor since the distance from the back of the windshield to the front of the T-top is longer. But if they use their own design sun visor then you will have to get it recovered instead of buying a replacement.

Petrov,
Welcome to ThirdGen.org!

40U is the RPO for White, and 41U is Black,
You are correct, U8555 = Black and U8554 should be White...

According to your SPID the colors were Black on top with Silver Lower, which does not make sense based on the rest of the RPO Sheet (SPID)

It appears to be very nicely equipped.
John

I also found in the door that the car was made 8-1987 as a 1988 model which is normal I guess as Porsche in Europe does the same thing.

Looks like the rear dics have been upgraded as well considering a JL 102 were not in production yet.
