3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT

Re: 3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT
They might be. I'm just not sure how the buyers will take to two almost identical cars selling so closely. It could be good, or it could be bad. That's why I want a reserve. If they offer it to me, I might take it. I would only be out the listing fee if reserve isn't met. The only difference in this car and mine is option package 2, versus my option package 3, Fabric versus my leather, and my car has the Bose stereo. The downside of my car compared to this one is miles. I have 21k compared to their 3k. Do the higher miles affect the value? Maybe. Does the 1SC option package, leather and Bose affect the price? Maybe.

Well done for the seller. But... if this car was a foxbody Mustang, it'd have gone for double. Weird, right?

I will say it again. I am not in a position that I have to sell the car to get the "$26k today" amount. There's also no guarantee that the car will be worth $30k in 1-5 years/ The value could start going down tomorrow. If so, I keep the cars. I enjoy having the cars, so if by testing the waters, they sell, so be it. If they don't, great. I have the space for them and they're paid for, so my costs are less than $400/year for insurance.

Re: 3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT
if that car that sold today had 21k miles on it i think he would have been lucky to get around 20,000 for it from what ive seen on bat .. and im not saying your car would get 20,000 .. kind of shocking that everyone is getting excited about a 3k mile iroc getting 36,000 .. if that was a notch back foxbody it would have gotten 36k the first day .. 3k mile irocs should be getting 36k all day long and irocs with miles in the teens and twenties should be around 30k by now .. hopefully someday

just think when we were all youngsters .. if you wanted a fox body mustang it had to be a 5 speed and you didnt even look at a convertible .. that was for the old dudes .. hardtop mustang or nothing .. even the t top mustangs looked weird and worse was the ones with the sunroofs just funky ..

Yeah, back in the day, I considered anything but hardtops to be for girlie-men.

Re: 3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT
So, after I ordered my '89 IROC, I decided I didn't want to park it at work and get dings or drive it in the winter. I kept driving my old '84 GLH, but it was really getting unreliable. I came this > < close to buying a '90, white, 5 speed, notch as a daily driver. I think it was under $12 grand.

I’ve never understood that. Why do some people love the fox platform mustangs so much? Even when they were new I thought they were butt ugly boxy little cars that look like crap next to the third gen cars. I’m talking from a purely design/looks standpoint they are just not exciting cars.

Re: 3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT
I’ve always felt that way too. Who cares how fast something is if it’s ugly? I’m honestly surprised Ford sold so many of them when they were dogs in the looks dept. couldn’t the design department at Ford come up with something better than the bar of soap on wheels look? the third gen trans ams and camaros blow the mustangs away design wise

Re: 3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT
Foxes sold because they were fast and cheap. Much cheaper than 3rd gens. The guys who really wanted to go fast bought notches and used them all up. That's why nice, unmolested, low mile ones are so much money nowadays.

Re: 3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT
I never cared for them when they were new and everybody I knew thought they were ugly
.even the car magazines Referred to the style as “lackluster”. I don’t think the look has
aged well either, unlike the third gen cars that look just as sleek and sporty as when they
were new. On the whole, the 1980’s were a low point in auto design.
It made this guys 6 cars we love to hate list and he really blasts it.

Re: 3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT
This is pretty much what I've always said about Foxes. It had better be fast, because I wouldn't want anyone to see me in that thing.
Looks like a pumped-up Escort. And while the name (and price) sold the car, the name "Mustang," a lithe, sinewy animal, didn't fit that blocky design at all.

Re: 3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT
because in this third gen bubble all we know is third gens are the best .. but in the real world the fox body mustang are loved by many .. in the drag racing world some of the baddest and hottest looking cars are fox body mustangs and out number the third gens by a ton .. and with these guys money is no object and they can build any style car they want and they choose the fox body mustang ..

Re: 3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT
there not all notch backs bringing good money .. ive started seeing quite a few hatchbacks bring some good in the last year .. it is funny that on the mustang forums they think the third gens are ugly , cheap , rattle traps and owned by white trash hillbillys and by the look at what i see on marketplace they are right in alot of cases ..

Yeah, the LX hatches are starting to bring some good money - if they are nice and unmolested. Also the 4 eyed ones and some SVOs.
The 'verts, you can't even give away for some reason.

Re: 3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT
as i do my daily search for irocs i always punch in 85 mustang gt to see whats out there and if i can snag a deal .. i think they were cool cars but finding a deal on them is non existent .. im thinking sooner or later any car from that era in mint condition is gonna bring good money .. mustang,iroc,442;monte ss , gn , 300 z etc.. maybe not the vettes

I remember the verts having the reputation as being heavy, crappy gearing, and slow. That has probably followed it all these years later. I don't necessarily think that people buy them for their looks....so when they do they want the quick ones....like the notch back
I've had a few Mustangs, but only one fox body, and it was a 91 GT convertible, auto. It wasn't very quick lol

Re: 3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT
honestly a gt in excellent condition brings as much as a iroc from what ive seen .. besides the 3k mile irocs of the worlds most irocs with miles in the teens only bring money in the teens as with the mustang gt's ..

Like you said, anything clean or lower miles from the '80's is going for good money now.

Re: 3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT
My friend recently sold his near perfect 11K mile, 5 speed, 3.08, no deck lid luggage rack, '85 GT convertible for $15,000. It was by far, the nicest '85 I had ever seen.

Re: 3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT
sounds like somebody got a nice car for a fair price .. i cant believe that white 85 mustang hatchback on bat with 13k miles sold for 27,000 in june .. i was watching that black 89 iroc vert with 14k miles on bat back in april , man that was a sweet ride .. i should of bidded on it , if it was a stick i would of .. bidded to 15,500 ..

Re: 3000 mile 87 IROC on BAT
just looked on bat and the auction screwed up and nobodys bid would take at the end of the auction so they may restart it at 24,500 and run it for 1 more day ..
