82 Firebird SE. Light Jadestone Inside & Out!?
A friend pointed me in the direction of an 82 Firebird SE in his neighborhood, so I got in touch with the (original) owner and went to check the car out, mostly just for kicks because I am not terribly interested in another 2.8L car, lol.
Anyway, I messed up huge by not taking any photos, so I'll do my best to describe the car. It's a factory Light Jadestone SE with every (as far as I can tell) option box ticked with the exception of the V8...soft close hatch, rear wiper, t-tops, PMD seats, etc. It's been resprayed once before, but it was well done and the body is nearly mint with the exception of one spot in the center of the windshield frame where it's peeling/bubbling and a small hole in the bottom of the front bumper cover (apparently a burn hole from a pressure washer exhaust). Had 3 of the 4 original bowling ball hubcaps, but they're painted body color - not sure if that's factory or if it was done when the car was painted? Original owner, so she had the original purchase order from the dealer and a bunch of other paperwork.
What really shocked me was the interior....it was also Jadestone (or some sort of teal), never seen a third gen interior like that before, but all the rear plastics, carpet, etc was teal, including the power PMD seats which were also teal and mint.
Canadian car, has about 118,000kms on it (roughly 73,000miles), it runs OK but idles kind rough.
The owner had put a bunch of money in it a few years ago to have the 2.8L rebuilt, so she's looking to recover some of those funds....Though she knows it's not realistic to get it all back. I offered $1000, just because it's such a well preserved rare car, but that wasn't buying it.
Anyone ever see another car with the teal interior and PMD seats? Is this thing enough of a novelty that I should consider increasing my offer?
I know, i screwed up not getting photos, or the RPO codes. The sellers were pretty friendly, if I really need to I can call them up and go back for some...

Re: 82 Firebird SE. Light Jadestone Inside & Out!?
The S/E got several things painted that the Base and the Trans Am did not get. For example, some years you could get a color-keyed shift **** to match the rest of the interior instead of the standard Dark Charcoal Gray one that the TA and Firebird got. Also the SE could get interior colored dash pieces for some years...
It would not surprise me that the wheel covers were body matched from the factory. But that is speculation.

Another S/E feature was a flat gas lid cover without the finger notch to open it like all the other third gens have. It also has a lock on the lid. I happened to find one of them in a wrecking yard and bought it. I plan to use it someday on one of my cars just to have something unusual.
