Looking for my former 1988 GTA.
All,
This is going to be a stab in the dark, but I am trying to track down, and repurchase my old 1988 GTA.
It was a Flame Red Metallic, T-Top, LB9/T5, Digital Dash car with leather Medium Beechwood interior and UQ7 sound.
I sold it in Los Angeles, CA around 2007, and it popped up on eBay in 2011. Carfax last shows that it was at an oil change center in Bolingbrook, IL around 2014. It appears that it hasn’t been registered recently.
The VIN is 1G2FW21F6JL258602.
It would mean a lot to me to have this car back, and would appreciate anyone’s assistance in tracking it down.

I wonder if you could share the Vin with oil change centers in Boilingbrook to see if they have ownership info. Not saying they would share, or even should ethically, but maybe they would help out by reaching out to the owner with the info they have on record. Would be pretty cool if you could find it, even if its not for sale at this time. If it was still around in 2014, most likely it is still sitting in somebody's garage. I wish I could search the older style 14 digit Vins on carfax. I have couple cars I would like to figure a little more history on.

I agree, I was just thinking you call and and ask for a manager or owner. Hopefully you could explain the story & they could reach out to their customer without giving you any info at all.
Otherwise, Maybe Chaz will chime in. He's not too far from that area. He may have some ideas too.

Unfortunately nothing yet. An updated Carfax report shows that it's currently registered. It also shows was serviced at an oil change place in 2017. I was able to find a fellow third gen owner on FB that might head over to the oil change place that the car was in 2017, and see if he can get information on the owner.
