Re: How rare was my GTA?
One thing I could do is break some of it down a little further...
Of the 3439 LB9 engines, 1037 had the Manual Trans, so that leaves 2402 LB9/A4 cars, what is interesting is they had the performance 3.27 gear.
If you break down proportionately, the number of U81 cars, vs the total number of cars vs the total number of LB9/A4 cars, and assume they are evenly distributed (Which chances are they were close, but not) You could basically guess there was around 450-500 LB9/A4/U81 Cars... Keep in mind that 88, T-tops were NOT available with the L98 in 88, so the majority of those had T-tops... Basically as optioned, by the numbers that particular combination was probably 1 of 250 ish... Anywhere between 200 and 300 would be my best guess...

Last edited by okfoz; 01-27-2020 at 08:57 AM. Reason: I mistyped, that 88 T-tops were available on the GTA and L98 cars, this is true for 89 only, and 87 Canadian GTAs

Re: How rare was my GTA?
I'm starting to think at this point, they're all "rare." I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a 3rd gen Firebird other than my own. I saw a really nice Camaro on the road on the way back from a car show in December. That was one of very few recent sightings of 3rd gen Camaros that I've had (I really don't remember another). Although I do know where a Camaro is parked that I don't think has moved in years. Even at this car show, there wasn't a single 3rd gen.
It's kind of cool actually, owning something that's in great shape and that almost no one else has.

Re: How rare was my GTA?
I might trade my 1989 Formula 350 Convertible for the Viper... Maybe... 1 of only 43 Formula 350 Convertibles... now that is rare...

Re: How rare was my GTA?
I'd say that your car being a 5 speed is what makes it most desirable. The other options are neat all together, and super hard to find with those options together....but I don't think they will really add much to the value. Your very low miles and the gear grinder are the biggest pros. I'd say the car would be worth around $20,000 to maybe $22,000

Re: How rare was my GTA?
Pretty car, the photo was killing my neck, so I had to fix it.
It's worth whatever the buyer and seller can agree on. Price it the same as any other GTA of the same year with mildly similar options and the same condition/mileage. There's nothing special about the combination of options that's going to make a Barret Jackson collector salivate.

Re: How rare was my GTA?
Somewhere, someone, came up with a claim that only 50 had the 350. That claim has no backing and would appear completely wrong. The GTA, including the Notchback option, came standard with the 350. I've owned a few. All have the G80 as that was standard on the GTA. The digital dash was common in 1988 with just over half of GTAs coming equipped with them but it's unknown how many came on the Notchback.
Some of the data exists if you have a ThirdGen that was built to be exported. I have the VINs of all the export Notchbacks including their RPOs. Besides the option, they were pretty much equipped as a typical GTA.

Re: How rare was my GTA?
Dagwood, did you ever try running an add on marketplace, or cragislist in the Bagley area? Maybe post a picture of the car & just put it out there that you have the window sticker for the car & you'd like to find the owner to re-unite the sticker with the car? The owner might not see the add, but its possible somebody who knows the car from Bagley might?
Might be worth a try?
