Yeah I've seen this car on there for a long time. Nice enough car, but nothing special. What is that, the 170HP TBI 5.0? The lister must have paid a lot of money by now just to keep that ad out there. I don't think that rare "Ford part in the brake light" exactly makes this a big collector's piece!

Nope, that there is an 87 Z28. That'd be the best LG4 ever offered, 1pc rear main, centerbolt valve covers, roller cam, divorced coil distributor, and that wonderful Quadrajet carburetor. Really it's probably a lot more fun to drive than a sluggish TBI car. Whaaaaa-WHAAAAAAA!!!! Trouble is it's not a TPI, doesn't have a sweet dual snorkel air cleaner, isn't a 5-spd, and it hasn't got that Iroc pedigree. While I look at it and can appreciate it for it's Wide and Wacky disco stripes at a time that was going out of style, most people (even then) were more interested in the Iroc door decals. The two tone paint is distinctive and different now, but in 1987 that was going out of style and it hasn't come back into style. 15" wheels? What is this, 1974?
It's a rare-ish car, first year official Camaro convertible. Unfortunately it lacks the sweet 20th Anniversary dash map pocket, which indicates it's a customer/dealer commissioned conversion rather than a "factory" convertible, which really just kinda knocks it down to being an early ASC convertible.
I don't know, it's just not really what people want. Rarity be damned, it's not a car with all the go-fast goodies, it's not the one with all the hard to find desirable bits, it hasn't got the flashy trendy buzz word sticker package, so to most it's just a bit of a boring car with a gawdy stripe package and dated looks. I hate to 'eat our own' but that's why the car lacks "curb appeal" that would make it more likely to sell.

I do kind of want a 3rd gen convertible. If I had an extra garage space, I might be actively searching. If I saw this in person, maybe I'd consider it. But I've definitely seen better cars. With something like this, I wouldn't care so much about the go-fast, more about the top down looks. And for me, IROC or Z-28 wouldn't matter.

L03 vs LG4 is subjective. Technically the TBI is probably rated higher, and maybe it even is a touch faster, but the 4bbl is the better setup for performance. An LG4 is slow, no doubt, but when the secondaries open up, it's still a lot of fun. It's also easier to modify. The 4bbl will support more engine with fewer mods. But really, they're both terrible 305s, a person could argue their preference.

I thought the TBI motor made slightly more HP than the carburated 5.0. 170 to 165? But never drove the carburated one, 5 more peak HP doesn't necessarily mean quicker.

1988 L03 = 170 hp
With that said I've driven L03s that actually felt eager, like in an IROC and L03s that felt like tractor motors hitting a brick wall at 3500-4000 RPM like in an RS. I think we determined that GM used two different ignition control modules.

Whats the deal with the asc sticker on the blank panel under the cig lighter? Is that an early vert thing or did someone add that? Cant say I've ever seen that before.

This car would look much better with red striping, imho. The bland black/gray look would go away.
