DE1 RPO rear window louver

this last weekend I bought an 87 iroc-z and it's a 2nd owner since 1991 car. It came with the factory aluminum rear window louvers, brackets, and tabs to mount them. The guy said he took them off within the first 6 months he had the car as they rattled against the glass and he didn't like the look. I figured they were aftermarket until I saw the GM part number on the back, and did some quick checking and found the DE1 was the RPO for rear window louvers, and I checked the glove box and the car has DE1 optioned. Is that a common RPO? I have never seen anybody ever mention it.

Yes that is the common RPO code for the rear Sunshades.

Re: DE1 RPO rear window louver

Same here... 87 Iroc, 5.7 ttops, bright blue metallic, OE louvers... Mine had aftermarket ABS louvers painted body color when I bought it in 98. Took them off right away and got rid of them. Finally got a set of factory louvers from Scott Moyer about a year ago. Can't really get over how much I like having them on the car now. Compared to the aftermarket louvers, they're damn nice, lots of buffers to keep them from rattling. Usually the aftermarket louvers will chew up the hatch frame, and grind scars into the glass.

Re: DE1 RPO rear window louver

I'll have to wash them up and set them on the car and see how they look. I have never been a big fan of them but they might look ok on this car!

Re: DE1 RPO rear window louver

Hi Charlie: I know your louver post was three years ago. Any chance you have the GM part number of the Camaro Louver DE1 that you mentioned you saw on backside? I believe I have same louvers in storage but don't know if OEM.

Thanks

Re: DE1 RPO rear window louver

Hello all,

I just purchased the set that was posted above.

Has anyone disassembled a set of the factory louvers? If so, what was involved? I need to pick them up from the seller and ship them to myself.

Thanks in advance!
