Awesome car!! That is the nicest original by far I have seen. One thing I did notice is that your car doesn't have the bird emblems on the inside door panels, and doesn't have holes for them either. I have an 82 also, but have the door emblems. Just an interesting observation.

From what I have observed in my time with the '82 Birds. His car is a Van Nuys May/June built VIN SEQ 53XXXX. Sometime in April of '82 around VIN SEQ 52XXXX, That Bird crank door emblems went away. And the regular door panels were used.
For example, My 2 owner Van Nuys '82 T/A April 14th built, has PW and the birds emblems on the door panels
And as a matter of face, I just picked one of those door emblems as a spare for $25 on eBay last spring A steal for what the usually go for !!!

If it had the B20 PMD Tan interior, Then i'm pretty sure he would have been fighting others for it and pay more then $15K

Maybe because I already have a Kitt replica with tan interior, Im glad this has black. Keeping a 34 year tan interior looking this mint would have been hard to do.

I love the early thirdgen birds, and that is a VERY nice one. You would easily spend that much restoring a good car. I think it was a good purchase. Congratulations.
I would be very interested in a bunch of good engine compartment and undercarriage pics for my own restoration purposes.

I'll take some... gonna get it up in the air and detail it. I just finished the outside and inside. The engine is almost done. Really the only think I needed to do to the engine is use compressed air to get some of the dust off. Can't wait to show you it 😍

Your car reminds me so much of my 82 recaro. Mostly because I had mine in 1988-ish so it was only 6 years, stored winters & low miles at the time. So it was in "nice" shape. Your car is so much nicer than mine was without ANY question, but its the first time since having that car nearly 30 years ago that I see images like I recall seeing when jumping in & going for a drive. I would love to have that car back, especially after seeing your picts.
Out of all the cars I have owned over the years, its funny how I never took one picture of the interiors. Not even one! I guess because at that time the interiors were all nice, so there was nothing to see. Be sure to take before picts of the undersides too. No doubt that will show some dust or more, but heck, even today cars are so unprotected from the factory. No matter what that looks like it will be so cool to see an untouched 82 underside
Just an awesome car, no doubt.
EDITE: I noticed on the picts you have raised whites on ones side & black on the other. Did you change out the tires, or have them re-mounted? Just curious.

It came with the original tires. I bought two Goodyear Gt replica tires and mounted them with the white walls in just to see if I like that better. I think I like the white out better. When I order the other two ( they are way too expensive) I'll face Them all out

Re: 7k Mile 1982 trans am.... I've died and gone to TA heaven
So you seen that last week I detailed the outside, this weekend I did the interior. I still can't believe this car. If I didn't know any better, I would think somebody just built this car out of Nos parts. This week I'll be doing the engine bay ( not that it needs it) and then the undercarriage ... enjoy

stunning. The 3rd gen Trans Am at its most purest
I have a '91 and whilst a fan of the later GFX, by then it was an ageing rockstar having been twice under the knife and belting out its swan song. Lol, here it is with all its artistic integrity intact and hanging with the fans after the gig
thanks for sharing
