Date code on GM parts tag
Can someone confirm the date on this tag? I am guessing its the 31st day of 1994? or maybe the 314th of 2000 ?
Not certain how to read these older tags.
Thanks guys!

Re: Date code on GM parts tag
I tried to order one of these emblems back in 2002 & it was already discontinued. So I am guessing its earlier than 2002, but I could be wrong. Bought this one on ebay. been watching for an oem NOS for a while.
I guess its not that important to know the date, I was just curious. I recall this style parts tags being used in the 90's. No clue otherwise.
Did GM use the julian date code? I know they put the date in a standard format on things I have ordered in recent years.

Your P/N on the package(10066840) and the lable says it's a Plate and according to GMPARTS.COM it's described as a decal stripe Tape.

Re: Date code on GM parts tag
my 87 camaro still wears its original paint. Its decent, but has a few nicks & isn't perfect. I was gong to repaint it 14 years ago, so I ordered all the emblems, stripes & decals. My order came in without the 5.7 TPI bumper emblem & front grill. both were discontinued, but I got everything else.
Never did paint the car. Still looks pretty good tho & I like the fact that it is still the way I bought it back in 1992. I still have all the parts in a box in the basement. I believe all those parts have been long discontinued as well. Aftermarket I am pretty sure they are available now however.
anyway, I jumped at the chance to buy this emblem as it was the only thing I was missing to have every oem part just in case I ever decide to repaint it.

Re: Date code on GM parts tag
here's a link to a site with the part number listed, but this site sells the repps.
seems like the "stripe" identification might be from parts websites categorizing all the emblems & stripes under the same category?

Re: Date code on GM parts tag
Now I guess I'll question if this even has the year at all?
Dug out all my decals & emblems. I actually ordered everything in September of 2000. So that means the original part in question was no longer available in 2000. Check out the dates on these boxes. Must be just the month & day, no year listed it would appear.
So maybe the date is March 14th of whatever year I want to pick from 1987 to 1999

I really think those dates are the day they were either ordered or the date they were shipped the customer or Dealer.

Guess I'm just used to seeing the year on things today. Heck even a gallon of milk has the year on it for some reason

When I go to the local GM dealers for a part and it's in stock, the package doesn't have a Yellow sticker like the ones your showing but if I have to order a part it comes in with a Yellow label.
