Value of original window louvers

I have a second set of louvers that a board member has said they wanted. The set is complete, with the original mounting hardware. Unfortunately, the amount of paint on the aluminum parts was thin so they are faded and will need to be painted. I don't think that's an issue as I had to repaint mine a few years ago for the exact same reason.

I've seen original, unused sets, with an "asking price" of $1000 on eBay, and I've seen brand new aftermarket sets "sell" for $300.

What I'm looking for is what the other members of this board believe these to be valued at. They are not dented or bent in any way. I want to be fair to other board members without the thought that my stuff is worth the value of gold, but I also don't want to let these go at a loss. Please let me know what you would be willing to spend on an original set if you were to buy yourself. Thanks

Scott

Just last week, I offered a member up north $350 shipped for Cragars. He said local pickup only. I said fine.
On the one's you have.....I'd go $400. Been looking for an "original" set for 2 years.

Re: Value of original window louvers

I do want to be clear on my intent here. I promised this set to a specific member, so this isn't a for sale ad. I need to know a fair price to ask for these. If that member decides they don't want the louvers, I can then reach out to others. Thanks

Re: Value of original window louvers

NOS stuff is often crazy when its hard to come by parts. But those louvers are so hard to find that even used are going to be worth a good amount of money I think. If they are nice & complete I could see them selling for anywhere from $400 to over $500. More than $500 would not surprise me if a couple of guys got into a bidding war on auction. Just so hard to find & those that have them usually keep them once purchased. I have a set for my camaro & while they are off the car I wouldn't part with them.

Re: Value of original window louvers

All good comment so far.
I pitched $200 for louvers to guy selling a car on Craigslist and he accepted. (The car ended up getting parted out, so that might say something about the rest of the car, and the guy's prospective on being able to sell it). I think I got a great deal.
That was also after 4 or 5 declined responses.
Another car being parted out had the louvers go early, showing louvers are still in demand.
So, I think that puts the generally accepted value higher. $400-$500, like F-body-fan said, is a reasonable price point.

Re: Value of original window louvers

The only reason I have a set that I'm looking to get rid of is because they were on my father's 82 Pace Car and they don't belong there. I already have a set on my IROC-Z. So I now have two OEM louver sets, but only need one. I know many people want these.

Re: Value of original window louvers

I've searched for a set for my 86, which as we all know, has the one year only third brake light... I had an original set on my first red 86, and wish I had kept them... I found a set a couple months ago, factory original, in box, all mounting hardware, listed asking price was $800... I don't think $400-$500 is too much to ask for yours at all Scott.

Re: Value of original window louvers

With all the hardware but needing paint in the $3-$350 range is what they'd most likely sell for in my area. Ive watched a few local sales and know they actually sold for prices in that range.

Re: Value of original window louvers

Not trying to jack the price with this thought, but a single can of trim black paint and an hour of time and they'll look brand new. It's not like a car where paint can be 1/3 the value. Especially when the paint cost less than $10 and anybody can do it.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I think I have an idea.
