Camaro Console Clock
Hey Everyone, I just saw this beautiful 85 IROC on ebay. Low mile super cool car, has "the look", 5.0L HO 5-speed too which is nice. One thing I noticed is that it has the optional radio with electronic display and EQ, but it also has the clock in the console. I was always under the impression that the clock was only available in those cars that didn't have the clock function in the radio. The window sticker shows the optional radio was in it new and lists UE8 in the build sheet. Is UE8 the code for the clock on the console or that the radio got a digital clock function? Do you think that someone swapped in the console with clock or could you get them like that? I'm always learning something new

Re: Camaro Console Clock
You posted a link for a 1987 IROC.
U35 was the RPO code for the console quartz clock.
I think this was the car you're talking about on eBay:

Note it shows UE8 as digital clock, so that is not referring to the analog clock on the console.

Re: Camaro Console Clock
I might be able to shed some light on that car if it is the same one that was on ebay a few years ago. The one a few years ago had the exact same options and colors and in fact had the console clock. The story then was the seller was the original owner who actually worked on the line when his car was coming down the line. You are correct that you could only get the console clock if you got the most basic radio with on digital clock built in. So...this guy supposedly put the clock in under the console and when he got the car to his house simply hooked up the clock and cut the hole himself. That way he got the better radio and had the clock too. Whether or not i buy that i don't know but anything is possible. Id be pretty surprised if that was another car with all the same options as the first one i saw a few years ago. Pretty unusual.

Re: Camaro Console Clock
What is the RPO code for the radio? I would assume the console clock would only be paired with the non-digital AM/FM head unit.
My mom had an '85 Z28 that came with the analog AM/FM radio and the console clock, but she had the dealer replace the factory radio with the Delco digital AM/FM/cass unit with the clock. So our car had the digital clock display on the radio (which was orange, as I recall) and the analog console clock.
