Re: GM EFI Write up on 3rd Gen Birds and history
Sigh... hate to see respected magazines still publishing stuff like this:
"As a result of the 5.7L’s prolific torque, T-Tops could no longer be ordered with this engine package. This created a “twisty” situation and some say leaks, from the hatch roofs flexing under hammer-down driving."

And Heinrocket would choose an '89 Formula - good for him.
Opening sentence makes it sound like Firebird came from Camaro - Firebird debuted 1st. I don't want to start a war, though.

I posted my comment at the bottom...
Also I have to love the conversation with John Heinricy, he said, "I would choose an ’89 Formula 1LE with the 5.0L TPI motor, 5-speed, 3.54 gears and no power options – in silver."
This is what I find really funny about this comment
1) Silver was not available in 1989, there was a Medium Gray Metallic, (I would give it to him)
2) There was no 3.54 axle, it was a 3.45 (typo, no biggie)
3) 1LE was not an available option on the Formula until 1991.

Read my comments at the bottom, I imagine I might be able to nit-pick something for every year... quite frustrating...
I am just glad he did not mention there were 50 1986 Trans Am's with the 350...

Great article thanks for the link. Didn't realize Formula's were only built starting in 87 in the 3rd Gens. I calculate 53190 3rd Gen Formulas were built. http://www.3rdgenformula.com/allyear...on_numbers.htm
