http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Camaro-2dr-Coupe-Z2-1986-iroc-z-28-camaro-t-toptime-capsule-9-282-original-miles-by-gas-/221681205264?forcerrptr=true&hash=item339d3ac010&item=221681205264&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
There is no way this car should fetch that much money. It is worth half of that price, maybe

Re: Ebay find: Whis is Gas Monkey's 86 Iroc selling for over double what it should?
$32000 for a 9000 mile car...
Honestly I have no clue...
The car is a completely loaded out 1986 IROC-Z There is no option it does not appear to have. It has the Overhead console, and the auto dimming rear view mirror. Amongst other options.
It is in really good condition with the exception of a little rust in the door hinge area.
Other than that, there are other cars, like a TTA I would rather own for $30,000+
I suspect they have fake buyers getting the price up.

Yeah, pretty low mileage and cool options, BUT that price is double what you normally see. I am sure its something to do with the show(wanting to be on gas monkey or whatever)
Even in the ad it is stated, AC needs to be recharged, tune up, etc. You own a shop that does complete builds and you cant send a stock Iroc out the door 100% ready to go? COME ON!
Edit: no overhead console, no rear wiper, not sure on rear disk. No custom or upgraded interior(countour or leather)

Re: Ebay find: Whis is Gas Monkey's 86 Iroc selling for over double what it should?
big deal, a 305, auto, iroc. yes,...its in very nice condition, but not worth it to me.
i agree, somebody who MIGHT pay that will only be interested in saying, "its a gas monkey car!"
i do agree with the fake bids. we watched them drive the price way up on a mustang, on another forum. they did some real BS work on the car. just trying to put theyre name on it and flip it for some coin to some dumb sucker.
watch, you'll see stupid, high bids come in, then its a mystery.
i call BS!

When you can buy a 89 TTA with <500 miles on it for under 35K, which would you choose? And they ain't worth it.
And the IROC is very sharp!
Not 32K plus......I'm sorry.

Actually I think there is an overhead console, in one of the pictures it has it hanging there...
--------- Edit --------------
I guess I was wrong, I saw the deluxe dome light with the reading lamps hanging there, not the pouch.

Re: Ebay find: Whis is Gas Monkey's 86 Iroc selling for over double what it should?
The buyer probably thinks he'll end up on the show lol. Honestly I think people are just bidding it up because of who owns it. I'm not sure if anyone here payed attention but gmg had a green mustang that bid up to over six figures. Most of the bids were not legit and the car sold for around 30 or 40k
Edit: it would be kind of cool if they show them buying the car in a future episode even though that seems unlikely.

I think it does have rear disc - RPO code J65.
But I could spend $32k on a low miler that's WAY a better choice than the softest performance edition IROC.

I suspect that some of the Gas Monkey cars are bid up on ebay.
I remember that green early '70's Mustang they had about a year ago was up to something crazy, like $190K, and then it dropped down to like $50K the next day.

I'm glad someone started this thread. I seen that car for awhile and kept thinking BS! 32k is way too much..the only thing I can think of is somebody thinks because it's affiliated with Gas Monkey that makes it more valuable!!?

I've had a love hate with this show.. Sometimes they do great work and kickass, other times they half *** and borderline scam. I blame Richard most the time.. Arron seems like he always wants to do the right thing, but Richard bitches about price and this and that.

For such a low mileage car, it sure has a lot of road grime and corrosion.
Looks like it lost a factory lug nut. Or the wheel locks got replaced with McGard lug nuts.

Richard is just an idiot, his car knowledge is boreline to none, his name should be cheap *** monkey. The only moments of that show i like is when the lady that does the carpets and seats for him just insults him. Now he is trying to sell a low mileage 86 IROC at twice its value and he probably doesn't even know its the worst year of the iroc in its stock form. The car i agree is optioned well, just a bad year lol.

Yes, that 85 is in much better condition if the pictures are a true representation.
Look at how much cleaner the undercarriage is on it as compared to the 86 at GMG as well.

Everybody always poking fun at the lowly 86's...
Ya'll hurt my feeling
And I watch the show, total crap or not, it's often interesting. Things are better when you don't expect much I guess. My big gripe is the prices he pays (often dirt cheap) for stuff and then crazy prices he sells for. I seriously doubt those are actual prices.

I'm not sure I understand why you guys are making these comments. I know of a few IROC-Zs that have sold in the last year for over $30k. eBay is not the best source for sales information.

Re: Ebay find: Why is Gas Monkey's 86 Iroc selling for over double what it should?
Not a 1986 305 iroc .. I seen a car that is the twin to this last year with same miles that couldnt get 15,000 on ebay ..guy had It for sale for over a year . Dont know If he ever sold it .

something's "value" is not set on anything. I could chew a piece of gum and sell the chewed piece of gum on Ebay for $30,000. If it sells, said gum is worth $30,000, if not, then it isn't. What something SHOULD be worth compared to what someone is willing to pay is two totally different concepts.

The good thing is the high sale price does help push up the values of other cars to some degree. The high price is only a magnet for other cars and it is starting to look up for thirdgens.
Only a few years ago a thirdgen was hillbilly crap, now they seem to be gaining a little value...

Re: Ebay find: Why is Gas Monkey's 86 Iroc selling for over double what it should?
I asked my question because there are so many posts in this thread saying that the car is not worth anything close to what it bid up to. The car is worth what someone is willing to pay. Is the end price legit? Who knows. If it is, then this car is worth the $30k it sold for to the guy that bought it. People have asked me if I would sell my car. I said for the right price, I would. Then THEY said that what they think my car is worth is more than they could afford. I never put a price on it!!
I agree with the above statement that opinions stink! People don't always have to voice their opinions, especially when they know it could "butt-hurt" someone else. If you're into butt-hurting people, well, that's your choice, but I'll keep my distance.

Re: Ebay find: Why is Gas Monkey's 86 Iroc selling for over double what it should?
ya with 900 miles on it .. i still doubt it brought that much .. i watched that mint 2,000 mile 87 5.0 5 speed red iroc all last year and the guy couldnt get 20,000 for it .. i am a iroc lover and hope someday they are a valuable piece but as of now you can get a iroc with miles in the teens or lower all summer long for 10,000 to 20,000 grand all day long ..
