IDing an HO car

Hope this is the correct forum. I have done some searching and reading, hope I can get some clarification on two questions.
I am planning to look an ’85 Z for sale. The pictures show it to appear as a clean, original car. 55k miles. It is carb’d 5 speed. It has the dual snorkel “HO” air cleaner installed. I had been under the impression that in ’85 the HO was only available in the IROC, true?

This is not the only car I am looking at. Generally speaking , not just for ’85 - How else can I tell if it a car is a genuine HO? I think there should be RPO codes on the under side of the console lid, yes? (L69) Is there a way to determine the factory supplied engine if the console lid is missing or I suspect it is not original? Cany any HO car be verified by a digit in the VIN? Thanks for the help.

Correct The L69 Was Only Optional On The IROC In 1985,The Eighth Character Of The VIN Would Be A G For L69 Optioned Cars.
