1989 Camaro Order Guide.

Pretty neat. Lots and lots of info. It's from the GM Heritage Center. They have other 3rd gen order guides as well. But I took a trip down memory lane with this one.

Here's the '83 Camaro order guide. You'll need to strain your neck on the first few pages.

Some good additional info on the L69 as well including a HRM road test and a Ralph Kramer press release.

"its a package only" is a common refrain from dealers because they dont make nearly as much money on a special order especially by checking off each option and not others.

when i ordered my 2003 silverado extended cab z71 i went to 8 dealers and tons of sales clowns before i found one willing to order a truck much less order one with the z71 package, pro-tec bed, cloth interior, and manual hvac controls...

it takes effort to order a custom vehicle they are going to make squat on. better to say no weasle out of it and sell one pre-built off the lot.

its why there arent very many 1le cars. easy to say no or or "its just not available" let me show you this one....

Well, I did have to give some thought to the color. As I recall it was down to black or white. I briefly considered a convertible, but you couldn't get all the good G92 parts with it, so that was out. I knew I wanted to wait for the N10 dual cats. Otherwise, I would have ordered a Formula in the fall of '88.

It was always going to be a 5 speed LB9 with the DX3 decal delete, (I just hated those graphics on a serious car). The only question was AC or no AC, which meant 1LE or no 1LE. At the last minute I chose AC, since it was my intent to make this my daily driver and I was tired of showing up to work in a sweaty shirt and tie, ( I had a GLH with no AC).

Who knew 25 years later it would only have 11K miles on it.

Charlie,

Did you ever order the original vehicle invoice thru the Heritage Center for your 83 or 85? Unless you already somehow know the original dealer and options, its a pretty neat piece of history for the car. Especially for the 83 with no SPID sticker.

I have the original window sticker for the '83 as well as the dealer invoice for the dealer installed options, like the 140 mph speedo, clear plastic headlight covers and fog lights.
