Yes its correct. In 87 spoilers changed to body color. Not sure about the ground effects being body color though. All the yellow 86 TA's I have ever seen have had silver ground effects

This should have the Med.Gray Metallic Ground effects,Yellow for 86 only came that way,Looks good though.
I'm pretty sure this car was repainted,Trans Am Decals in wrong place on fr.& rr bumpers and the Bird on the Nose should be on the hood if it didn't have the fad dot stripe.Or they just removed the stripe,Painted it and placed the Trans Am decals where the stripes go.

That looks sort of like '92 Jamaica Yellow. They could have used it when it was repainted. I thought the '86 yellow was a little "lighter" for lack of a better word.

I was thinking that too. The '86 yellow is less saturated (a little pure white mixed in) close to the center of the chart below. The Jamaica yellow is more saturated, toward the right side of the chart

Remember we had this discussion recently. The P&I manual indicates the smaller bird on the bumper was included with the fade dot stripe kit. But there is no records that show the large hood bird was included on cars without the fade dot stripe. The large hood bird was optional at an extra cost.

Going by that chart, the color in the photos looks correct. I must have been thinking of the WA8522 yellow gold used on the '85 Firebird. That looks like the same yellow used on the '85-'87 Camaros, less saturated.

Hi JT,I know we determined that the lg. hood bird replaces the sm. Fascia bird,and the fascia bird is part of the lower stripe kit
I was referring to the Small Bird on the hood,wouldn't that be part of the decal kit without the lower stripe?

Well it was determined that the car was repainted(at least the bottom)maybe they shot the whole car

Yep I was thinking about the lighter yellow too. I think there's a photo of one somewhere on the forum IIRC.

The differences between the (50)51 Yellow from (85)86-88 and the 92 Jamacia Yellow is the 86-88 had a slightly more "greenish" hue. There are some variations from the green. The Jamacia Yellow in 1992 was more on the orange spectrum

Here is a comparison between the "Yellow Gold" and the Jamacia Yellow (background) same picture.


With that said, there are some variation to the 1987 yellow, both of these cars were repainted with the "correct" yellow. can be seen in these pictures: The foreground car is the same car when comparing it to the 92 JY car.

The Yellow on that 86 Trans Am actually looks to be more like a Mustang Yellow, it is too bright.

What is most interesting is this picture shows the color as it about should be... why it appears more "yellow" in some of the pictures is beyond me...
