To be honest... I think it is more than a fair asking price for what I have seen, for the miles... Too bad it isn't yellow

I've seen this car for sale before and I think it's legit. Black, LB9 hardtop 4whl disc with red L/S contour interior. Yeah, I'd buy it!!!

Why Would You Have To Replace The Rear Calipers On A 9,700 Mile Car.

Re: ALERT 10K MILES 1985 IROC TULSA
Run a carfax or autocheck on it. Ive seen 30+ year old cars w/super low miles & wearing all their original parts. Interior does have fade & i want to see what kind of documentation it has.

Shouldn't The IROC-Z Door Decals "Slant" To The Rear Of The Car,Not The Front.

in 85??
or look at one of our moderators cars...scottmoyer...he got this car with 6343 on the clock... but its an 87
I believe on the passenger side it was forward facing.. I think they were the same sticker used on both sides for the first year. I may be wrong..

Re: ALERT 10K MILES 1985 IROC TULSA
Speaking of "crack pipe prices" I posted my car for $20,000 on craigslist a while back. I took it down after a couple of hours. I didn't want to have to explain myself. Some people just love their cars, but if there is someone that is willing to overpay it makes selling a lot easier. A "crack pipe price" would be the exact opposite I would have listed my car for $20.

The sticker on both sides is the same sticker. The RH & LH are not different with opposing angles, they are not "directional"

i always heard that the early disc brake set ups had issues and i believe gm had either a service bulletin or recall on the hardware. I'm not sure but i believe they are the delco-moraine design. They were built from 85 to 87/88 which was replaced with the PBR setup.

The "PBR" brakes were used on 88+ 1LE cars and 89+ all 4 wheel disc brake cars...

Daaaaaaaaang, if I were looking for a hardtop '85 IROC (and had money to purchase one), I'd take a really good look at this car. Great options, and an awesome color combo.

He started the auction at $15k and got nothing for awhile. He recently got 1 bidder, which is where it stands with 7 hours left. So people aren't beating down his door, though I was suprised to see he even got a bidder at that price level. My general sense is that $12k is about the very top of the 3rd Gen market at this point.
It'll be interesting to see if this one can raise the bar. I guess we'll know if it doesn't get relisted due to a "non-paying bidder," LOL!

Re: ALERT 10K MILES 1985 IROC TULSA
We may get to see what the top of the market is with this one -- a beautiful sub-20k mile 1989 IROC with the L98, full documentation, a very rare (and documented) dealer installed SLP package, factory stripe delete, and loaded with options. Arguably the best year for the 3rd Gen with the best performance and luxury options.

And Autocheck still gives it a high score above the range, LOL! That's weird because they saddled my Z28 with an abysmal "7" score simply because it had a lot of owners.
The car's apparent condition shows that this is wrong but I'd want to clear it up before laying down 15 large.

Re: ALERT 10K MILES 1985 IROC TULSA
About the only red flag I notice right now is the fact that the rear of the car sits low. Of course, this wasn't uncommon from the factory. I remember when Hot Rod or Car Craft bought a Formula back around then to modify and commented on how low the rear end sat. Carpets, pedals and seats look awful good for a car with 109k on it.

They look like the 16"s to me though the sidewall looks tall for a set of P245/50s. Unfortunately cannot read the sidewall in the close up of the tire.

You can replace these things, but it costs a small fortune to get the "correct" pieces...

Re: ALERT 10K MILES 1985 IROC TULSA
It's amazing to me given how nice the car is and how much money he's trying to get that he didn't correct the Autocheck report, or at least point out in the description that it's wrong. That may explain his 1 bid.

I imagine that 182,000 was supposed to be 18,200, as it has just over that now. I chalk that up to whoever was doing the emissions test and couldn't read the odometer correctly...

Re: ALERT 10K MILES 1985 IROC TULSA
My 89 Formula 350 has this issue with Autocheck...
Within one year according to Autocheck someone drove the car 57,000 miles, what killed me was the Autocheck was out of whack, the CarFax at least did not show such oddities IIRC... If you overlaid them and used the information from both, you could see that some moron at an oil change place, or the emissions testing place used the 10ths digit... If you figure that you can clearly see that human error was made twice...
So I take Autocheck & Carfax mileages with a grain of salt.
