Is this even possible

http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/3926832656.html

Saw this a couple weeks ago and wondering if the 5 speed with 5.7 slipped through or if this guy is just blowing smoke?

Oh man, it's got the "full corvette race package"! I wonder what the RPO is for that.

If it does have a 5.7L, it's been swapped in. No B2L on the RPO sticker.

The "Full Corvette Race Package" LOL!

For the man that wants a Corvette, but forgot to buy one and bought a Camaro instead.

Re: Is this even possible

I've read so many times there never was a 5 speed with a 5.7 that I originally thought smoke. The one that makes me think though is the pre-87 350 ones that are rumored to be built.

Re: Is this even possible

It is not only possible, but probable that pre-87's were built with 5 speeds behind both TPI 305's and 350's.

But test mules aren't cars. They don't have VIN #'s and they cannot be purchased, not even by accideant. After they accomplish their mission, they are crushed.

Re: Is this even possible

The "LB9" code on the far left on the 3rd row confirms it's a 5.0L. Probably IS original engine/trans combo, but someone apparently put a 5.7L badge on the rear bumper at some point during its lifetime.

He probably is unaware it's a 5.0L, otherwise he wouldn't have included the RPO sticker for people to prove him wrong. (Or he was just trying to provide "evidence" for the uneducated.)

Re: Is this even possible

Or who knows, maybe somebody has swapped a 350 into it at some point.

Block casting # DOES NOT LIE. Everything else, including craiglist ads, .... well,,,, ... ...,,, ,,..... yeah.

But one thing is CERTAIN: regardless of what it or isn't in it NOW, it didn't COME WITH a 350.

Question has been answered so to keep things clean. I'm going to lock this. Plus, any future references will be lost when the craigslist ad is deleted.
