1991 1LE, R7U Camaro On Ebay

I've never see one of these before, thought some of you Camaro guys would like to see it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1991-...item2574e0f1f9

The "Buy Now" seems a bit steep, but then if it's really rare, maybe not.

Very high price for an 86,000 mile Third Gen but pretty darn cool though, I will give it that. If I was ever to pay big money for a car with that kind of mileage, this would be the one.

But they say the definition of "insanity" is trying the same thing more than once and expecting a different result. This car only bid up to $8,600 in an ebay auction just a month or so ago, so I don't see how he thinks he's going to get anywhere near 18 grand from the same place!

No it does not. The Canadian exchange rate is about 1:1 right now.

Very cool and nice car, but that price is crazy IMO. Like was said-he tired once and now trying again. I mean the $8600 bid was not bad at all. This is an example of some thinking they gave a good mine.

There was an absolutely stunning maroon '91 R7U in the online classifieds recently with like 20,000 miles on it as I recall (could be wrong but it was very low). My jaw is still on the floor over that one, and he wanted about the same money as this guy does. This car has 66,000 more miles and while nice, isn't in as good of shape. In this market, the seller will have to make a choice to either hold on to it or take 9-ish for it. I don't think any Third Gen could possibly go for more than 13,000 in the current market unless it was an R7U or 1LE with less than 20,000 miles on it.

I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I'm thinking this car would be hard pressed to bring more than $10k on a very good day.

Ultra rare cars can follow the beat of a different drum in terms of market pricing and go into the "what the...?" territory. But the question is whether this one would have appeal outside the normal Third Gen market and into the realm of discerning collectors with major bucks.

That's the only way he's going to hitch this thing into the five figures. I think he will have a hard time doing that here as the discerning collectors usually look for super low mileage examples, and can probably find an R7U like that already, or one of those 15 mile Formula or GTAs we see around. A really, really interesting pedigree can also do that but here, while the pace car pedigree is interesting, it's not like it was raced by Steve McQueen or Dale Earndhart or anything.

Well said and I agree 100%.

Although I don't know why, I have yet to see any deep pocket collector go 'Nutz' over any thirdgen F-body. Particularly now in this 'down market' when a matching number Hemi car can be had for less then 3/4 million bucks.

Now if it had a well documented racing history, with a few big name drivers behind the wheel, it might fetch ten figures.

A little off topic Gents, but any time I hear Mr. Dale Earnhardt's name mentioned, my ears Perk-Up.

This is my 2001 Dale Earnhardt Intimidator SS with only 296 miles on the clock. It is # 38 of 84 built in the series.

You could consider it my 'Baby'......

Canadian pricing as in Canadians pay a lot more for vehicles and
expect a higher price than us folks in the US.
I note the pricing is in US dollars.
I assume its a Canadian owner pricing the car as if he was selling
to a fellow Canadian.................
So it seems a bit pricey to us here in the US.

I have a place along the US/Canadian border and have family in Canada
so I know the deal!

I sure miss the good ol' days of .65 cents Can. to the US 1.00.
We would hit Gan and Kingston to buy stuff a lot cheaper than the US
even with the PST/GST !
It sure hurt the flow of Canadians visiting and spending at our local
US border tourist towns tho. many places offered Can. cash at par to
lure them in.

Now that the Can. dollar is at par or over the US dollar business has
improved greatly and seeing MANY more new Canadian friends!

Re: 1991 1LE, R7U Camaro On Ebay

There was at least 62 White 1LE LB9 R6P cars in 1992...

I would not call that Rare... There were several models that were more unusual. The 1LE is a great package however.

THings I noticed...
The axle has been painted black.

That's a lot of Money for that 1LE, a B4C ought to warrant that but nothin too social about this 1LE, I don't dig the Canadian gauges.

I found it kind of interesting that it has the brackets in the rear trunk panel for the T-top bags, but it's a hardtop? I've never seen them installed unless it was a T-top car.

You sure those brackets aren't for the cargo shade? I honestly don't know, but it would seem you'd have to hook the shade to something when unrolled, right?

Hmmmmm. Interesting. I wonder if the 1LE or R7U cars received the extra body bracing that the T top cars got, even though they were all hard top.

The brackets for the cargo shade are on the hatch.

Also odd is it doesn't have the brackets installed on the gas tank hump to match the ones on the rear panel.

Thanks, I believe you. My '91 G92, w/o t-tops of course, does not have those tabs. Nor does it have the shade, so I thought that could have been an explanation but guess not.

Very interesting given that the car seems well documented otherwise, and its Autocheck history isn't showing any accidents (which could indicate that the rear panel may have been replaced). Anyone have a pix of the rear compartment of another R7U?

Maybe if it was in full Players Challenge dress I could consider the $$$ for it. Someone on here has a players car in full dress, that looks awesome.
