A Yellow 1988 Firebird Formula, How Many Of These Made?

This caught my eye this morning while scanning the "For Sale" sites:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1998-...item2c677f77b9

I think I've seen 1 or 2 base 1988 Firebirds in this color over the past few years. Can't recall seeing a yellow '88 Formula, at least not in this condition. Anyone know if this is a rare color or just not many of them survived without a repaint? Except for the usual rear spoiler issues, looks to be in great shape but the owner is a good bit high on the asking price for a 5.0L TBI Firebird. Lots of photos, check it out.

I honestly don't think it's all that rare -- well, it's probably no more rare than any other color that isn't red or black. I recall seeing 1987-88 Formulas in this yellow/orange/grey scheme back in the day when the cars were new. Unfortunately, there's no source that specifically identifies Pontiac Formula color production that I'm aware of. What I do not recall seeing were many solid yellow Formulas until the 1991 "Banshee" facelift, when it seemed a lot of them were yellow.

That car is stupid clean. To bad its not a Formula..

John "Okfoz" would be the one to ask about the yellow cars.

The only weird things I see with the yellow car is the hood latch looks to be painted yellow along with the 2 bolts its held on with.. Wonder Y Its also been under coated in the rocker panels (the lil black plugs) and the alt has been replaced.
Not at all deal breakers but I'm thinking its a tad over priced for the motor option.. Or lack of motor.

Re: A Yellow 1988 Firebird Formula, How Many Of These Made?

1) Yellow was only available on the Formula in 87 & 88 (Firebird side)
2) Yellow in 1988 is much more uncommon than 1987. The Yellow Formula was the Brochure car, however it was still uncommon.
3) The Yellow in 1988 was a partial Year offering, about half of the year. The other half was the Orange Metallic color that replaced Yellow.
4) Quantities? No Idea,
