Made a Decision....Need Input
Well, I have had a tough time since I found out my car was NOT an IROC...(I know this may be silly). I have been thinking about it all day and came to the conclusion that since the car has already started being cloned into an IROC, I am going to keep it and finish it out. I wasn't planning on keeping it stock anyway, so atleast I have a pretty good car to start with. I have already spent about $60 on freakin light bulbs (all of the interior lights were out, the fog lights were out..and disconnected, and the brake light on the hatch was burnt out. I still need to get 3 more bulbs for it, and a reverse lamp.....then put new bulbs in the dash! My plan is to eventually make it into a pro street car anyway, but kind of keep it stock in appearance to some degree.
So my question is....am I crazy for doing this? I would like some of you more experienced Gen 3 experts to give me your ideas on this please.
Thank you in advance!!!

secondly, i have to wonder if you are sure that you even know what you want. i dont mean that in a condescending way, but if you bought your car (whatever trim level your car is) mistaking it for an IROC, then, thinking linearly, it may stand to reason that you are new to Third Gens, and possibly new to cars/hot rodding - so dont take any of this as condescension, i'm only trying to help.
1) Clones Suck. my personal take is, you can put all the same hardware - interior, engine, wheels, brakes, ect. as the higher trim level (i guess in your case, IROC) but just dont put the badging. once you do that, now your rice. make your car as good or better, just dont misrepresent.
2) Pro Street? you do realize that a Pro Street car isnt exactly a street car, so if your looking to cruise on the street, your not going to be happy with a Pro Street-style ride.
3) If i had to venture a guess, you should probably either bail on what you have and look for a real IROC (or Formula/TA Firebird) or be prepared to spend alot of money to fix up the one you have into a Pro-Street (which i do not recommend) or other street machine. point being, that you can lightly modify a higher end car and possibly be happy with the results, but you cant (shouldnt) just throw a big lopey motor at a base model 3rd gen and expect good results.
4) modding a car right is never cheap.
hope this helps.

I have an RS and I flaunt it, My car will beat most irocs but its still an RS. There is no difference besides factory engine tranny and gfx so if all that is changing anyway then who cares what the vin number or factory options are...

Agreed with everyone above. Since your car is a decent car, is not an IROC, and you want to mod it, go for it. It sounds like the perfect platform.

Thanks guys.....keep the ideas coming!!!
I really don't think cloning a car would be rice though. People do it all the time. Especially since it basically a trim package anyway.
I would consider selling the car, but I could not replace it for what I have in it and still be able to mod it. I think it would be neat to see just how many people would recognize it as a clone anyway.
When I say Pro Street, I don't mean extreme. I just mean fast, but cruisable. I want to enjoy the car when I am done.
