Factory Delco Head Unit
I've looked at a lot of early third gens (82-87) recently and, as you would expect, a lot of the factory radios have been replaced with aftermarket head units. When I eventually find the right car I want to put it back to factory original, right down to the radio.
I did a quick search of TGO and Google and couldn't find anyone who sells factory correct Delco head units for the early 80s cars. Anyone know if those are available somewhere out there?

This is a decent site. I had another saved, but can't find it now!

They're generally a dime a dozen at junkyards, and from many sellers on eBay as well. A reputable company might have a 'reconditioned/guaranteed' one for $250+, but I personally can't justify paying that price when pull-a-part sells them for $17 with a working guarantee.

They're the same crap that came in a bunch of other models as well. Very commonplace, in typical non-working non-repairable condition.
The reason the buzzard can sell em with a "guarantee" for $17 is because they have a million of em on the shelf that if they don't get $17 for them, they'll go in the dumpster in a month or 2 to clear shelf space for the next million, and they know that sooner or later even the dumbest customer who's dumb enough to buy one in the first place will figure it out and quit trying to swap it for a working one since there aren't any and they can make an appearance of a "good faith effort" with absolutely no effort whatsoever... might take 5 or 6, maybe even 10, but eventually even someone as dumb as me would probably get a clue. (gee, did I mention "dumb" enough times? )
Nothing to get excited about, unless you have ONE LAST cassette, and you REALLY don't care if it gets eaten or not, because it probably will. Not sure how this whole program would qualify as a "good idea".
