The body tags really don't tell you much... In this case it tells you the color(s) and that it has t-tops. I could grab a book and decode it, but it's not going to tell you anything you don't already know. The VIN will tell you a lot more.

Re: Body Plate Decode Help Needed
C = 1982 model year
06A = built first week of June
1FP87 = 2 door coupe, Camaro
L = Van Nuys, CA assembly plant
170601 = body sequence number, should match last six digits of VIN.
18N = dark charcoal custom vinyl interior
16L = silver metallic lower body color
16u = silver metallic upper body color
W = water base paint
AR9 = Luxury bucket seats
CC1 = Hatch roof with glass panels
D, B, = unknown but believed to have something to do with installed options such as rear defog or rear spoiler
034692 = unknown, had something to do with internal tracking at the assembly plant.

Re: Body Plate Decode Help Needed
Most of the body plate info is easy to decode, except the bottom letters "D" and "B", these were option codes that the Van Nuys Plant used on early 3rd gen cars, The "D" was to indicated that the car was destined to have the rear spoiler RPO D80 as the car moved down the assembly line., The "B'' is kind of a mystery, I've read in the past that this would indicate the car had the luggage compartment trim option RPO B48, that included the rear compartment cover and carpeted trim on the side covers of the rear hatch, this code should be on all Berlinettas, as it was standard on the Berlinetta and optional on sport coupes and Z28's. Other codes would be "W' for the rear wiper option and "S" which is maybe for the Stereo radio accomodation package. and the lower numbers on the plate were used to ID the body as it moved down the line, it is decoded as follows, The first two digits indicate the date the body was started down the line, 03, would indicate third day of the month, In your cars case, it would have been June 03, 1982, the following numbers "4692" is the body sequence numbers. if anybody else could shed some light on the Van Nuys options codes, I'd like to hear from you..
