What to do for 1987 custom seat covers?
I am in the process of restoring my 87 IROC-Z and I cannot find any factory appearing seat covers. I have seen the Hawk's covers and they don't look anything like the originals. Has anyone else found any other alternatives? I want the original factory "tweed" look, not velour like the Hawk's. Let me know.
Thanks much.

Hawks has different types of the velour material, there's the Encore, Regal, and Madrid and all looks like what was factory (or as close as they could come).

your best best is probably to find a good looking passenger seat and have the fabric transferred to the drivers side

Well unfortunately the Hawk's covers are VERY different. You can see in this thread how different they are.

Yeah, unfortunatly nobody has the exact same type of covering, or material. I think it has something to do with licensing rights through GM. A buddy of mine went through the exact same thing with a Nova he was restoring with the door panels and such, it sucked.

I was afraid it was going to be something like that. Looks like I might have to dump some big bucks on a complete custom interior to get the original effect Im looking for.

I had my '87 completely re-uphoulstered, I had it done at a local shop, the material is close (closer than the picture you posted) but not 100% like the original, they also hand stitched the "Camaro" lettering on the fabric, the letters were a little bigger than the original were, but it looks good. it cost me $700 for all the seats and the door panels, this was back in 2000. I can give you the name of the shop if you'd like..

Right now there are no good options out there at all.
There are two places though that stock NOS seat material from all different makes and models, I can't think of the name of one, but the other is SMS Upholstery or something to that effect (SMS something).
You can email them and ask, I did but they never replied.
