Camaro GTZ Concept
as some may know i have a love affair with the GTZ concept. i've searched around for anything i could get and its always bits and pieces of it. i know there are a few threads mentioning it
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...z-concept.html
(the last post actually has some info)
but i was hoping we could have an actual thread with just information on it and not speculation.
here is what i found.

Re: Camaro GTZ Concept
Doesn't look too bad. sort of like a mix between a 3rd and 4th gen, with a dodge avengerish style rear end and a Trans Am spoiler. I'm assuming thats thwere they got the front end idea for the 93-97 Camaros.

Re: Camaro GTZ Concept
I can't believe the concept car sold so cheap. Someone got a deal. I think it sold when GM was in trouble and selling off its concept cars.

Re: Camaro GTZ Concept
wow if i had the money i would definetly have gotten one.
and with the removable front end, and from what i read in the article, this leads me to believe that the fenders and such were fiberglass.
this thing could be very close to the 3,000lb mark
if thats the case, then with that powerplant and lightweight body, it would be next to the GNX and Sy/Tys.

Re: Camaro GTZ Concept
Interesting. Never seen or heard of this before. It looks like it basically has a 4th gen front end, a trans am spoiler, and Infiniti taillights (I want to say I30, but I can't remember).

Re: Camaro GTZ Concept
Amazingly no aftermarket companies replicated the nose or rear end pieces that I know of.
Just think one of these with an lsx in it. Dayyyyyyyyyum
I might have to draw up the nose and see if it could be done easily.

Re: Camaro GTZ Concept
I saw the GTZ at the Chevy Vettefest in Chicago back in the day. It was awesome in person and to this day I remember thinking how cool it was. Given where automotive design was headed at that time I thought it was a fantastic evolution of third gen styling.

Re: Camaro GTZ Concept
Keep in mind that the GTZ was probably a concept vehicle to gauge the public perception of design ideas... It was probably used for styling cues for the 4th gen Camaro.
Likewise In 1988 they took a 3rd Gen Firebird and literally made the concept car for the 1993 Firebird, and it was almost identical to the 4th gen...
