91 Z28 LB9/M5 Production Numbers

Hey everyone, I own a 1991 Z28 LB9/M5 and I am trying to find out how many were produced. I tried to do a search on the forum and nothing came up. Let me know if you have any ideas, thanks

The short answer is that no one really kept track of option combinations... The key being combinations... You can likely find outhow many 91 Z28s were built, and probably how many were 305 TPI cars, but not how many of those 91 Z28s with 305 TPI engines were 5spds.

Re: 91 Z28 LB9/M5 Production Numbers

The way the 733 number is derived, is by adding/subtracting supposed known numbers. According to the Camaro White Book, G92 was required on the L98, and LB9 5spd. It shows 6,813 cars got G92, and 6,080 got RPO B2L, leaving 733 cars that would have to be LB9 5spds.

Personally, I don't really support that method of reasoning. There is some margin of error in the published numbers. Added to that, when you start working an equation based off of numbers with some margin for error, you're basically getting a WAG of an answer. It's arrived upon scientifically, but due to the way it was calculated the accuracy goes down.

I did read that and my car does not have a G92 rear with the LB9/M5.
I have aluminum drums with a 3.08 limited slip rear. So, I thought my car was not part of the 733.

You guys are correct, maybe not a dead nuts number but close. That aluminum drum rear makes your car all that more unique.

Re: 91 Z28 LB9/M5 Production Numbers

The only reason why I am wondering is NJ has collectors regisration. For me to get it I have to have collectors insurance, which I have, send the state pictures of rhe car and have some sort of proof that my car is limited production. I have never seen another 91 Z28 with the LB9/M5/aluminum drums. I have always seen them with the G92 rear. I also have the aluminum driveshaft. I bought the car in 1998 from the original owner with 26,000 miles on it.

Re: 91 Z28 LB9/M5 Production Numbers

Take your rpo codes, and a copy of the Camaro White Book, and find the option with the lowest production number... Or just plug your VIN into Compnine.com and print out their BS rarity facts and take that to your DMV.
